cracked header

Gas fumes are great and all, but not in the cabin of the car.
I'm guessing I have two options:
1. Find someone to cut/weld.
2. Buy a new header.

If you have experience welding, advice? (not welding it myself)
Or what header? I've heard the tomei does well with my innovate and perrin set up.

Thanks in advance!

I'm selling a JDL EL header if you're interested.

Ok, Jonesy, I'll step in. Poorly manufactured. Jig was off making the weldment so, as mounted, the part highlighted in red hangs lower than it should. The flexible coupling bellows is stretched in an S-shape and subsequently cracked. This is an example picture with a similar header.

We looked at it together and I initially suggested we cut out the cracked coupling and replace it with another. I would tack it in with the header mounted in place so it would conform to the rest of the shitty weldment without residual stress.

I have an adequate TIG setup but am not the best welder in the world. I would get a nice bead but would also end up with a huge heat affected zone because I'm too slow. I don't use enough current because I'm always afraid of burning through the pipe.

If I get it tacked, would anyone else volunteer to run a bead around it off of the car?

Any input is welcome. Hare-brained scheme? Trying to save a few bucks. It's Jonesy's car so I didn't want to speak too much in his place.

I have the L26, however the carbs are early 240 style. Someone is planting seeds in my head about swapping in a VQ later on

Bump for feedback. Anyone care to recommend a good welder who can do stainless?

Jonesy, I hear that JDL is a respected unit. Lots of people running it.
