Subaru total sales for October '21 was 30% down comparing to October '20. They don't have any cars, because of the chip shortage. All car makers have been hit, but Subaru is the worst. The BRZ sold something like 24 cars. I suppose pricing will get better in future...

Ultramaroon was making a fun about the "poor" owners.

I like some content of Jason Camissa , but as most car journalists he is paid to have good relations with all manufacturers. Mazda will always be better and for the more rich guys a Porsche should be the minimum sports car ...

Ah yeah this is at Putnam Subaru in Burlingame, CA. If you're buying a Subaru in the Bay Area they generally don't even make the list of dealers who will give you a competitive quote.

Try Serramonte, Carlsen, etc.

That is a little misleading. October of 2020 was the best October in Subarus history and was 11 percent up from 2019. Subaru is definitely not the worst hit automaker. They just have a much lower volume than someone like GM or Ford.

I agree that they don't have a lot of cars to sell and are selling them before they hit the lots. But so is every other dealership. BMW is talking about making their model one of order everything and not keep any stock on hand even after the chip shortage is over.

Car buying might be different when this is all over.

You can check also year to year figures. They are 0.3% up, when all other manufacturers are 20% up after a year of continuous lockdowns.

It’s a good sign that the 15k markup for a BRZ got a lot of buzz. Nobody is really talking about this though…lol

That’s true for hot units. This being the first BRZ I have no idea what it’ll go for. I have low expectations as it’s just an automatic BRZ but honestly this market has brought out the craziest results.

Last month there was some transactions to beat some dealers completely by selling in stock, non-ordered cars for MSRP.

Just in April…Outbacks and Foresters were going for $2,500 below invoice and got orders to beat any written quote by $200.

Want to go even more back…when the 2019 Outback was on its way out there were multiple deals on Outbacks $5,000-$5,500 below invoice (yes invoice, not MSRP) That was before the “I’ll take off an additional $200 off any written quote you have.”

Probably sold about 60-75 cars per month just from beating other dealer prices…

But it includes one free year of "minor maintenance"!

What the hell could minor maintence mean? Oil changes? If so then that is at most 200 dollars. Wow.
