With 245-40/17 SX2, at 33-34psi hot, the tires wear really evenly, and the pyrometer reading have been about where I want them.

I'm pretty sure for 95% of the drivers out there, they have bigger gains to be had with driver mod vs. optimal tire pressures. For all but the fastest drivers, I would suggest set the tire pressure to 34hot, and focus on your driving. But if you want to optimize your tire pressure, go for it, and let us know what you find.

Maybe the SX2 is just not very sensitive to pressure, given it's stiff carcass?

I've spent significant time monitoring temperatures and pressures. I have not used a probe-style pyrometer, but have done things many others typically do not, including logging the temperature of each tire in three different places in real time. That data is shown in Track Addict and compared with all of the other data available.

Wow that's really cool. Hard to see images as you need a login to see attachments. I will give your range a try. I have been trying to sit around 30-32psi hot.

Do you think it's possible that altitude might be the reason for the difference in PSI?

Just outta curiosity... How many miles do these tires last? The FRS I bought has some really bald Kuhmo P31s and while most of my miles will be track... Just wondering how long they last for.

They last a good amount and because they under 500$ for a set they are great all around daily tires.
