I have used the Jescar once on my wife's car, but it's the first time I detailed it (refreshed from rental-car-matte lol). It looks great and goes on way easier than my go-to klasse. It isn't as durable to scratching but water beading/shedding is phenomenal even 6 months later. I might stick with it.

Trying to figure out which option to go with. Buy a small laser engraver or CNC machine. Both are small measurement (110mm x 110mm) to work on metal like brass, strainless steel, aluminum and so forth.

Anyone got good recommendation?

Why not both?

I think you could doo more with a little CNC in the long run but the engraver would pay for itself faster and would be a better first purchase. People are always looking to have things laser engraved

Yea I have two small platform CNC machines and both are capable of doing lasers. In fact just about any CNC will do that.

One is a Cubiko Desktop CNC I bought on a kickstarter for cheap. It does a decent job at both as long is you only need a small footprint (about 100x100mm).

The other is a Genmitsu 3018-PRO CNC.

Both will do laser engraving and cutting.

I don't do anything serious with them, but if they fit the size you need they both work well.

I was looking into their brand as well. I was looking at 3020-PRO Ultra? I’m assuming next ver of yours.

Main thing I’ll be using is for blacksmithing. Making Tsuba for katana or handle part of camping knives. Just want some little design on it. I’m not expecting to engrave high carbon steel that’s already heat tempered and treated.

I was looking at small laser engraver… but cheaper ones can’t deep engrave brass. Decent laser engraver that can deep engrave a brass starts around $2k. So I was looking into mini CNC machine to see this will be cheaper options.

It takes a pretty strong LASER do deep engrave brass, or any metal. I think most recommendations are 50W or better. The ones I have (under 20W) would possibly do it but it would take many passes for anything beyond surface etching. A 30W would also do it, but would require multiple loops and would likely get hot. It might be OK for occasional use.

That said, I'm far from an expert on this, most of what I know is from reading, not practical work.

I've been on a retrofit / OEM+ bout for my FRS since I had to sell my GR Corolla due to lack of work in tech / Lead Product Design realm. Been brutal, but rolling with the punches. Big plans for the 86, but holding that close til it's time.
