Yeah! It was hard to describe that 'tinny' sound but it does sound much more nicer now. Plus no drone!

Does anybody else modified back box exhaust and.keep rest of the exhaust stock? Thinking of doing that, as aftermarket exhaust will cause insurance policy, so at the moment I would like to keep stock look but also want to.have a nice sound...

Well, will be looking to see what you achieve. I've spoken with a bloke who doing customs exhausts, and he advise me, to achieve bit of sound from.stock back box to cut those baffles in the middle section like on the picture below:

That's what i was thinking about.
then i also thought id fill it with some acoustic fiber or muffler packing to get rid of that "empty" sound.
Anybody have any they prefer?

Well, stock muffler is empty- no acoustic fibre, so by adding it at the end of modification, you may kill the sound, achieved by baffles removal, you think..??

hmm yeah they may be redundant. I just figured it would sound more "full".

I did this mod yesterday.

Cut the center 4" section between the separating walls weld spots, chopped out the center section pipes, and welded it back shut.

Sounds great, you really only hear the difference under acceleration. Otherwise sounds mostly stock, maybe 15% more growly.

High recommend for anyone wanting a LITTLE more than stock sound. $150 for a welder and welding helmet, and about $10 in bent sawsall blades.

I'd recommend this though:

- Cut open BOTH SIDES of the canister
- get 10" long sawsall metal blades.

That way you can not smash your fingers and hands and destroy a bunch of blades trying to cut out the center pipes.

And, added bonus, you get to learn welding a little more if this is a first time or you.

Could you provide a sound clip of your car with the mod? What is the rest of your exhaust system?

Thanks for the advice

my exhaust

it just sounds stock, but has some more attitude under acceleration.

no sound clips, no good way to record it.

- Megan Racing Catless header and overpipe (DO NOT BUY, O2 bung faces control arm, and a huge pita to install)
- OFT Stage 2+
- cheap $40 ebay silicone intake inlet pipe (like Perin) that deletes the silly sound producer section of the intake.

Thats it. I could go for 15% more sound, I might delete the front pipe mini muffler this weekend. keeping my rear cat, dont like stinky cars.

get ready to waste metal blades....

read my later post.

CUT both sides of the canister open, get a long metal blade. Trust me, it's worth re welding both side after.

I just cut both sides open, added a pipe and made a Y shape inside. Drilled some hole in the pipe, welded it all back up. Sounds louder. If I had to do it again, I would just buy some cheap muffler on ebay. I remember it took me 2 days of my free time
