Totally agree

There's a difference between tuning your car and buying a faster one though. I think it's more satisfying to improve your car. It's like watching a child grow

There's a difference between dropping your kid off to kindergarten at 5 and putting them in college prep courses at 5.

One brings a smile to your face at the end of the day and a finger painting on the fridge and the other leads to much lighter wallet and an overstressed damaged child.

Setting expectations appropriately is key. Sure you can make an 86 very quick, but at the end of the day it's just a little MacPherson strut four banger coupe built on a budget.

Of course! But judging by how many happy owners there are with FI cars, I'd say if done right, it's a good option to consider.

Yup! But people who ask super basic questions (like the op of this thread) and who do so to try and beat faster cars (see the porche thread in vs section right now) may have unrealistic expectations and be disappointed at the end result.

Haha yeah no, the only car you should be looking to beat with your mods is your car before it had mods.

I second this. I have a rule i follow, and it's that you race yourself and/or the track. Bringing other people/cars distorts your mental vision, you focus on things you shouldn't and lose focus on things you shouldn't, the same can happen in a car build as well, stay true to the build, don't make your car something that it's not. You can make your car as fast as you want, but your car is only as fast as you. I have beaten a lot of cars in my NA twin i never thought i could have, all because i either outperformed the competitor or because the competitor underperformed.
