P0455 - Large evap leak

Hello,

IAG stage 1 built motor.
Jdl turbo

I have been dealing with a P0455. I havent smelled any fuel and did open up the fuel pump area to check for leaks but i havent seen or smelled anything. Ive checked if my fuel cap was loose, it wasn’t. My fuel pump lock ring is tight and at the old marked blue lines. I’ve ordered a new fuel pump assembly gasket and fuel cap to replace these old ones. I pulled off the intake manifold to check on thse hoses and is all clamped up and no punctures. i think im leaking fuel somewhere because ive taken it to work for a week and fuel mileage is terrible. Half a tank of gas would get me about 90-100 miles and thats mostly cruising on the highway.

Anyone dealt with this before?

Are you sure it's not because they are using the evap solenoid for your ebcs? They are supposed to disable the code. fuel mileage might be terrible because of tuning if it's still a work in progress / you're ripping on it more. With larger injectors, any time you're not at 1 lambda it's going to be straight up dumping fuel. Could definitely be something with the fuel system though. I would park over cardboard for a while

Also, check the evap solenoid under the intake manifold, those certainly need to be clamped if you've got boost. Old threads seem to find resolution by re-seating the in cabin gas tank cover, even if you've checked that, maybe give it another once-over?

My tuner has already disabled the EVAP codes. I haven't been going into boost at all when i brought it to work. Highway cruising only. i know fuel mileage is going to be bad, but I feel like I shouldn't be using that much fuel just cruising on the highway.

Yea, the intake manifold is off right now and all hoses are clamped down and no punctures to them. Yea, the plan was to check the fuel assembly today but it got late so ill do that tomorrow. I'll pull the whole pump assembly out, maybe I'll find something amiss.

good idea on the cardboard.

If you are leaking enough fuel to affect fuel milage you will see the leak.

Obviously your evap codes are not disabled.

Really can not narrow it down but ether something was not put back together right or shitty tune. You are probably not looking for a disconnected line but a couple of lines that are crossed.

I think the evap codes that were disabled were the disconnect ones to do with the ebcs p0451/p0453 not the ones that detect leaks.

I havent been able to check the fuel pump yet, ill do that later this weekend but when i was under the car i saw a dried stain on the fuel tank looked like it was coming from the fuel pump area. I already ordered a new fuel pump gasket just in case if its needs more than a readjustment.

What the actual fuk

What's the point of disabling EVAP component circuit codes and leaving the leak detection running? If you've got disconnected components and the DTCs don't set to disable leak monitoring, the leak detection can't run/will fail.

DUH!

Hmm i guess youre wrong
Well, the point of that is since the EVAP canister was leaking…it detected the leak. Replaced that and its been 6-10 drive cycles now with 2 refuels, no more codes

Not everyone is a professional mechanic so no need to assume everyone just knows the same info you got. cheers

Not sure what is funnier here.
The fact that money was wasted on a fuel pump before any diagnosis was completed or OP shitting on the people that were trying to help him in spite of his lack of information or understanding.
Guess they are both funny in their own way.
