---

Nearly had a bad night turn into a deadly night. I've had my coilovers for just under a year now and last night my front driver gave out and slapped itself into the frame rail. I was on the hwy and hit a pretty noticeable bump in the road, all of a sudden I hear a loud bang and scrape sound as the car started to plow into the left hand lane. I managed to hold it together and not take anyone out in the process and get it onto the shoulder. Wheel is cambered all the way in and is resting on the coil and inner fender. Top nut has sheered under the hood.

Sucks but the important thing is you made it out safe. As much as we love these things, a car is still a car.

suspension components are not invincible, how big was the pothole and how low were you?

remember that the damper isn't there to hold up the car, the spring is, and if you've run out of spring, you're forcing a great deal of forces on to the shock

curious what fortune's gonna ask/tell you

Car is no where near maxed out on ride height, if I was gonnabrate the pothole from 1-5 of severity id say it was a 3

A coilover buckling, that is a scary thought.

next question is, was your coilover's inverted mono-tube design or standard design? aka skinny exposed shaft for very thick exposed shaft.
