The current "mystery of the day" regarding the LYRIQ. Cadillac Canada (and later Cadillac USA) posted the range for the 2024 AWD and RWD models. The AWD has a projected range only 1 mile less than the RWD only model.

Fantastic if true. Unfortunately there is no explanation how you add @250lbs, don't increase the battery, and run this close. GM has been relatively accurate with their estimated ranges in the past.

I'm thinking magic fairy dust at this point. Th 2024 is supposed to be introduced by next Friday, and those of us with confirmed orders will receive a link to convert from MY23 to MY24.

Have you looked at insurance for the Lyriq? Wondering if it will have a price premium vs a "comparable" vehicle - which I don't know what that would be. High end XT6 maybe?

I've seen reports that EV's are generally more expensive to insure - and I know Tesla offered their own insurance as a result.

Just curious - one of these days I'll maybe get an EV...

It's difficult to say what it would be by itself since I have multiple vehicles, but adding it to my USAA policy will be about $1,600 a year. The FRS right now is costing about $1,400 a year.

Well, here's a surprising and unexpected change. the Department of Revenue, after being petitioned by both GM and Tesla, has changed their policy and are now using the EPA classifications for vehicles to determine eligibility for the tax credit incentive.

This means the LYRIQ and certain Tesla vehicles previously classified as "cars" eligible for the $55,000 limit now fall under the $80,000 truck/suv limit.

The 2024 LYRIQ configurator is now up on Cadillac.

A private single-use link that is to let 2023 order holders update to 2024 was supposed to be active at 12:00PM ET. As of 1:00PM ET it is still not active.

Supply Chain? Or is the IT guy just late from getting back from lunch?

Well, the deed is done. My 05/22 MY23 order is now a 02/23 MY24 order. Ultimately, I'm much happier with the build anyway. I love the color, there was an option for "no chrome", and the pricing (after accounting for the tax credit and the $5,000 private offer from GM to MY23 order holders) is within the range of what I expected.

New build:

@spike021 yea, this is all over the Lyriq forums. Right now it appears it Carplay will be staying in the Lyriq and the Bolt, but wouldn't be in the upcoming EVs.

The Lyriq, and subsequent GM EVs have Android Automotive built in and is what runs the infotainment systems. But Android Auto and Carplay are layered on top of that.

It's an interesting move, as I'm sure it will alienate a good portion of potential buyers, but doesn't impact my decision as I'm not in the iOS universe.

Not really new. I already knew that. They are just now really delivering them in "mass" although nowhere near full production admittedly. They are up to somewhere around VIN 2500.

The had two delivery holds for software reasons in 2022, and now are delivering them, including SuperCruise activated.

As far as Model Y sales, well good for Tesla and those that like their style. Not my thing.

Nice one, Dadhawk. I sat in one in Feb at the Toronto car show and it was quite nice, light show and all. Funny, as I was admiring the back of the vehicle an older guy (late 60's) said out loud to his son that he thought it looked like a hearse. I laughed and commented to him if that's a hearse, take me away. lol
Now just to be patient.

I was considering a Polestar 2 but the Volvo C40 electric is looking more interesting to me now I think. But, given the option of with or without all the automated driving features and the really cool interior lighting, I'd be inclined to save the $10K and just stick with 2 motor awd option only.

I like the Polestar 2 but hate that it looks so lifted.

Honestly it reminds me a lot of a lifted WRX that's EV (cough cough Subaru).
