opinions on meguiars(sp?) black wax?
I did a quick wash/wax job the other day and realized i really need to do a good full detail, possibly including clay bar. My car is raven, so I was thinking about getting tube of the new meguiars black wax. I just don't know if it is all hype and doesn't offer good protection or what...Anyone have a better suggestion on a good cleaning, protective wax?

I definitely recommend you clay bar. I use Meguiar's Gold Class carnauba wax every few months with regular hand washings between. I like the carnauba because it's easy to apply and looks good, the downside being it needs to be reapplied often. I'd probably clay bar twice a year as well.

I havnt clay barred yet simply due to time constraints. I know how well it works though. Is there a better sealing wax for after claying?

Colored waxes are a bandaid at best and a gimmick at worst. After claying your car, use a quality sealant, let the sealant harden over 24 hours then top with the carnauba wax of your choice.
www.autogeek.net... look around.

I used the white wax and it was a gimmick. Stick to carnuba or get a sealer

Assuming it hasn't been driven or been left out in the elements, it shouldn't need much more than a quick dusting.

for the money, it's hard to beat Chemical Guys products.
Meguiar's is good, but you can do better in the price bracket. |
