The 2nd gen has about the same weight and whp as Honda S2000.
I believe they are classed CS/STR?
Don't see any obvious reasons why 2nd gen should be classed differently from S2k.

I don't think it will be an overdog over an ND2 in STR but it could be...

Best solution? Autocross needs more classes. Let's make STX2 just for the ZD8s. Maybe STZ? STGRZ?

I'll just show myself to the door.....

SSCST .... lol

I think STR makes the most sense if they don't want it to be an immediate overdog. While STU is "theoretically" faster than STR it rarely ever is. This year at Nats the top cars in STU and the top cars in STX were all within a few tenths, and all 4s off the STR pace. Both courses were very STR friendly, but still...I think the car would quickly become one of the top cars to have in STU.

STR could use the help in numbers, the car technically fits the "philosophy" of the class too, makes sense.

The differences in the ND1 and ND2 are very small in ST trim. A lot of the power gains came from the changes that let it safely go from 6800 redline to 7200 redline that many people were already tuning to in the ND1, so full tilt builds the power wasn't that different, nowhere near where a Gen 1 vs 2 Twin will end up.

I believe STU is the best fit for 2022. The class needs numbers and this would help out. STU results are between STX and STR, and that's where the car will probably finish IMHO.

STR all day long, it's a no brainer.

STU is going to get faster and then the twin will be *buried* so may as well just bite the bullet now and move the ND to STU where it's always belonged and then class the new twins in STR... or just let the new twins battle it out with the ND anyway.

Twins in STU with 18x10's and 285's could be interesting lol.

I'm hoping for STX

18x10s and 285s won't fit, so....

As someone that just competed in STR pretty successfully and owns an STX car... new twin belongs in STR.

lol I also agree with this, as long as the car is not slammed to the ground.
I was looking at mine on the alignment rack last night thinking, "there's a lot of room in here for me to poke a bunch of tire out in the rear." In front things are more limited but possibly do-able.

The easy button is CS and STR because they're least likely to be major overdogs there.

1) SAC will class the car for 2022. Hopefully decided at the December meeting - anyone who gets a car please go autocross it and give the SAC data! It's 1000000% not a slam dunk in either logical class it could fit in (CS vs. DS).

2) I can't say definitively, but the STAC may not class it for 2022. There's not a mandate to class ST cars immediately, there is a drive for more stability given higher investment than Street, and there's a hesitation to have a repeat of the ND quick classing in STR that disrupted the class... and STX isn't broken. Gathering more data and seeing how the cars respond to the aftermarket before classing it makes a lot of sense...

Uh, why? It's possibly slower than the ND in CS so what would make you think BS? It fits there worse than DS...

I'm just asking if there is any chance of that happening. Sounds like 0%, good.
