JDL+op/FP with dual resonators and a simple axleback. Just make sure you factor ecutek. Do you have e85 near you?

No E85 in Canada, and none nearby on the other side of the border either, so I'm stuck with dino juice.

I considered the setup you suggest, but whatever I end up with needs to be pretty much stock noise levels to keep my wife happy at this point. Me too, honestly - I'm old...LOL.

I'll look into that option - thanks!

EDIT: just remembered, axle-back might not be an option for me, since mine's a 2020. If I recall correctly, there's something different with the mid-pipe to axle-back connection (location or flange or something), so only cat-backs work for 2017+ unless the axle-back is specifically designed for the newer ones.

E.G. this HKS Legamax Premium axle-back only fits the 2017+...but of course they only offer it in the "burnt titanium" tip, when I would want plain stainless... To get the stainless tips, I'd need to get the cat-back.

My first pick, of course, would be the STI axle-back, but at $1700 CAD + shipping from Japan? I'll live with something else...LOL.

I'm probably between the CSG/MXP Touring86 cat back or the HKS Legamax Premium cat back if I don't stay with the stock cat-back. Not sure I love the super-large tips on either of those options though. I've inquired with CSG if the JDM OEM tips can be used on the Touring86.

I would pass on the CSG one only because its made with a lower grade steel and if you car see's winter's might not be a good idea.

Fujistubo makes a 2017-2020 axleback to fit the modified connection flange on the newer cars.
Part # 360-23132

I ordered one a a couple weeks ago and was given a ETA of February due to backorder.

Thanks for that - I saw that there, but it was literally the ONLY place I had seen that said there's an Authorize S that fits the 2017+. Everywhere else was 2012-2016 only, but now I've searched that part number, Blackhawk Japan also lists it, as does rallysportdirect.com.

I guess it's back on the options list for me, but considering I could get the HKS Legamax Premium or Greddy Supreme SP cat-backs for the same price, not sure that I'd go for it...

EDIT: Also funny, if you go through the site navigation on ft86motorsports.com and browse all the exhausts, that one DOESN'T come up - only the 360-23111 model (for the pre-2017+). If you search "2017+ exhaust" in the search bar though, it does come up.

To me it's as close as you will get to STI quality without the STI tax

Their in site search is broken. If you type fujistubo in search nothing pops up. I found it originally by hitting the axleback filter under exhaust tab.

The price is still pretty steep for just an axleback but catbacks are all sound anyways and I'm picky
FT86MS does their own midpipes which I'm considering maybe next year.

Greddy SP was on my short list too. Certainly better bang for buck purely from getting a stainless midpipe for the same cost. Ultimately decided against it as I am fairly certain it's louder than the authorize S

Yeah - I'm leaning towards the HKS Legamax cat-back if I do get something, but I'm not crazy about the HUGE tips (nearly 5"). Here's a clip of the exhaust with the HKS R-Spec catted header setup (catless header with catted front pipe):

Not exactly the same as what I'm planning with the GT Spec (which has the cat in the header, plus the stock front pipe), but maybe gives an idea of the sound? If anything, it will be quieter.

For visual aesthetics, nothing comes close to the STI, with the curvature perfectly matching the rear bumper, but $$$$.

The other option I am looking at is Supersprint, but they are also VERY expensive. Likely about $2,100-2,300 CAD + shipping from Italy for the cat back (I have the Canadian distributor inquiring about pricing and availability), but they sound really good and fit the stock or JDM OEM tips (they also make some pretty sweet oval tips, but they're $700-800 CAD ***for the tips!!!***)...

I'm probably just going to see what the sound is with the stock exhaust and the headers, and as long as I don't pick up any weird buzzing or other noises, I may just throw the JDM tips on it and call it a day.

Whatever your wallet is willing to absorb
Sticking with stock catback with the headers is a good baseline. You'll see how much louder the header is with everything else stock. With the rear seats down I find it louder than I expected while heavy into the throttle.

I'm not hugely familiar with HKS exhausts, they're niche around my local area. I'm sure that setup would sound good.
