1. I installed the Intec light (with better luck than others it seems...I also replaced the tape with my own preferred tape that has held strong ever since) and the kit came with fabric strips that go across the holes left by the "spaceship". Still noticeable, but better than nothing.

2. I installed another light, not only for fear of being pulled over, but for my own safety - and the car's. These cars are already pretty low to the ground; if you are on coils, you are that much lower. The moment an agressive truck/SUV starts riding your ass, there is no way they will see your tail lights. Some would say that's fine because their insurance would cover it, but to me the hassle and knowing that my car has been damaged isn't worth it.

Thanks for the link update. I did this 5 months ago, but filled the gaps from the child seat brackets and the spaceship. Then upholstered the entire deck with black felt from Michael's. Afterward I found that someone actual has a 3D printing file posted in the DIY section so you can print your own fillers.

Third brake lights reduce rear end collisions by 4.3% Mines coming off in the name of weight reduction! I'll risk it...

Do you have the link to the 3D printer files? I did a search but didn't find them.

Besides being Federal law, the third brake light is nice when driving at night to indicate braking in a condition where the brake lights are less obvious because the taillights are always on.

I like mine:

Looks good!

I have the Valenti 4th flashing brake light. While not technically legal because it's not above the tailights, I'm confident I'll be seen. It's different and that's what gets a humans attention.

I've always thought there should be one where the Toyota badge sits Instead of the rear window. If I come up with something I'll post it.

BLAST FROM THE PAST!

Okay, so several years later, to those of your who installed the Classic Design Concepts High Mount Third Brake Light, how is it holding up? LEDs still going strong, any problems with it falling down, rattling, getting condensation build-up behind it, or anything else?

I'm sure it was a cost consideration, but this is where Toyota/Subaru should have put the 3rd brake light to begin with..

In the US the 3rd brake light has to be higher than the side lights.

Not sure you can get it much higher than the top of the back window, not sure I understand your comment?

4+ years and still going strong for me... Only complaint is that I couldn't get the adhesive/3M tape to make a uniform even bond to the glass. Hasn't changed a bit in 4 years, but looks a bit amateurish and more like RTV than tape in direct light.
