i found some key differences in the VVT tables between the 4.0 and 2.0 and Waynos Roms, that could be the difference?

so, to add some context, Shiv claimed that with OTS 4.0 maps, they are universal EL and UEL, but how impactful is that, compared to OTS2.076 MAPS that have UEL and EL differences i noted in this thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...=1#post3087867
i get it that its easier to have universal MAPS for distribution, but there has to be some kind of loss, power, sound, efficiency, etc? thoughts? |

I find my car (JDL UEL) runs smoother on V4 than V2 with JDL VVT tables. Power feels about the same, really hard to tell with the butt dyno, and my OBD app calculated the same power from MAF flow, not that that's horribly accurate. The biggest difference for me is tip in throttle smoothness and the car definitely sounds more docile too. |

so you dig the V4 VVT AVCS tables ?? i compared the throttle/tip-in maps, and did not find a difference. there is a nice tip-in tweak on OTS tuning sticky by @Wayno.
in the short time i ran V4, i did find the car more refined than V2. by wayno's V2 tweaks provide a smoother transition in Fueling, timing, VVT... so not sure what to say here. i find it interesting that the original poster runs Tomei EL headers with V4.0 Stage 2+ as i learned that Stage 2+ has more of UEL VVT AVCS tables and Stage 2 regular has the EL/UEL (more like EL) hybrid tables. so with V4, we are likely to see more EL catless run with UEL VVTs if using stage 2+ and UEL catted run the EL/UEL hybrid VVT tables. interesting ? have you tried any of Wayno's Maps?
his fueling and VVT gradations really smooth out the drive. i am guessing the OG OTS tunes are less smooth so feel more aggressive ??? Quote:

The only reason I ran v4.01 stage 2+ is that it was supposed to be for catless headers. And I only ran it for a couple of days. I couldn't stand the way it sounded, or its dead spot in accelerator pedal travel. I've been running the Wayne rom v130 for my setup, EL 93 octane. I also find it to be very smooth. I love how the OTS v.2076 sounds, but it would sometimes stutter and pop at low revs, and the Wayne rom never does that. It just pulls smoothly from any revs. I need to find some time to log some 3rd gear pulls, but it's tough because of the traffic around here and my schedule. I may have to go back to the dyno to be able to do it. |

I have not, probably won't since I'll be adding a flexfuel setup soon. Maybe I can play with some of his tweaks after that if they apply to the flexfuel tune too. |

Good stuff! I plan on flashing the STG 2 UEL E85 tune from Wayne once I reinstall my stock airbox. Maybe I'll even hit up this place in Marrietta and share the numbers!
