OFT Advance Multiplier will not increase from 0.7

Hi All…. long time lurker, first time poster. I’m used to tuning with jets and timing lights on BMW M10 engines, so this type of tuning is all new to me.

My question: I have had the OFT V4.03 Stage 1 petrol tune installed for a couple weeks now. Looking at live data, the Advance Multiplier has never moved from 0.7. Trying to understand how the ECU decides to move that number closer to 1.0. I understand the default is currently set at 0.7, but had hoped it would move up as the ECU does some learning.

My Car:
-2018 US Market BRZ (50th Anniversary Edition).
-Drop in HKS air filter, Berk catted front pipe. No other engine mods.
-Running Premium 91 octane with a bottle of Royal Purple octane boost. Car is in Colorado Springs at 6,400ft (1950meters) elevation so it needs intervention to keep from running rich and knock should be less of a problem.

Logs:
Below are 3 logs from yesterday. Mostly driving around town with a couple 2nd gear pulls, and one interrupted 3rd gear pull.
I can see a few times the FLKC goes positive even all the way to +1, and there is no instances of Knock Correction on any of the logs.

Why don’t I get an improvement on Advance Multiplier beyond 0.7?

Log FLKC fine knock learn if you see negitive flkc or fbkc you getting small amount of knock and that will hold iam lower than 1

this may be occurring only in one specific load\rpm range

do several light throttle runs in say second from 2000 to 6500 or so should reset iam to greater rhan 0.7

This is pretty normal if your not on good 93 fuel, as your on 91 you will likely always get small amounts of knock indications which will keep iam down

What you need is a specific 91 tune if you want iam at 1 and minimal knock indications

can sort a 91 fuel tune for you if needed

Thanks for the reply.

I did a few 2nd gear light throttle runs this afternoon as suggested and logged FLKC. There is no indication of knock, and all FLKC values are positive. Advance Multiplier stayed steady at 0.7.

I understand the ECU corrects for lower octane fuel, but I'm just not seeing in logs where it identifies the lower octane fuel.

Posted one of the logs below, and will continue reading the romraider link... that is some HEAVY reading. From the link...is the Advanced Multiplier not changing because the FLKC value is not greater than 3.9?

ok this seems unusual

positive flkc does tell you that iam is less than 1 but for some reason it doesnt seem to be incrementing back to 1 and no negitive flkc or knock correction

maybe oft not logging correctly

try updating oft via openflash managet connected to internet

also download and apply the latest "template file" from oft support site

also maybe try modding tune to set IAM initial to 1 and see if oft logs iam at 1

Thanks for the suggestions!

I downloaded fresh ROM from the support site and made sure OFT was fully updated.
Modded ROM to set IAM to 1 and logs look good after a couple days. IAM logs at 1, and no knock correction or change in IAM.

Thanks again for the assist, steve99! Your posts have given me a a ton of info to get started with OFT tuning.
