What alignment and suspension settings do you run? Post em up. There are no wrong answers, this is just a place to share what you like and what you have learned.


For reference, here are the initial settings Tire Rack recommends:


Suggested Baseline Settings After Alignment

• Front Camber: -3.0 degrees (Confirm wheel and tire clearance near spring perch before driving, 3mm minimum clearance recommended.)
• Front Caster: 5.4 degrees(left)/5.5 degrees (right)
• Front Toe: Zero
• Rear Camber: -2.25 degrees
• Rear Toe: 1/8-inch total toe-in
• Tire Pressures: 35 psi all around (baseline, tune to surface and driver)
• Front and Rear Sway Bar: Set at outermost adjustment or softest setting
• Front Shocks: 1.0 turns (of 2.5 turns total available)
• Rear Shocks: 1.5 turns (of 2.5 total available)

I've liked my setup so far but I'm still learning.

Front Camber: -3.2 degrees
Front Caster: 6.25 degrees(left)/7.0 degrees (right)
Front Toe: Zero
Rear Camber: -2.5 degrees
Rear Toe: 1/64-inch total toe-out
Tire Pressures: 32 psi hot all around
Front and Rear Sway Bar: Front soft, rear hard
Front Shocks: 1.0 turns
Rear Shocks: 1.5 turns

His experiences largely matched mine, though I never messed with hard/soft.

Running soft/hard gives me a car that I've been very happy with in sweepers and I can drive confidently in slaloms, but I find hard to consistently place in the offsetty sweepy in between stuff. At bumpy sites, the car can be really loose on throttle on exit. Cranking up rebound helps mitigate that.

Running hard/hard drastically improves all the weaknesses I find with the front bar on Soft, but it is really easy to lose the front of the car. I tend to struggle with asking too much of the front, so I've struggled trying to make front hard work all season.

Overall, I've found the setup extremely frustrating and will hopefully be debuting the car with a few simple STX mods the week after nationals.

I just got everything together and aligned, using a combination of past experience and what I gathered around the interwebz:


Front camber: -3.3/-3.2 (max)
Front toe: 0
front sway: soft
front struts: stiff
rear camber: -2.3
rear toe: 0.15 degree in each side
rear sway: stiff
rear shocks: stiff
tires: 32/32



I have not had a chance to test yet, but will say that the car still rides and drives pretty well on the street with the shocks set to full soft. Other comments about a choppy ride and ground clearance issues have not been a problem for me. It is not as smooth as stock, but doesn't annoy me at all. I also have a Release Series with the front splitter and still haven't scraped. Steering feel is a little more vague on center, but the car doesn't tramline.

Solo Spec Coupe is an SCCA autocross and race class. It is just for the FRS/BRZ with specific suspension mods and tires.

Thanks, that explains why you were discussing settings as if you all had the same suspension model.

Finally got to try the car out last weekend. The recommended 32/32 tire pressure was WAY too high. I ended up dropping all the way down to 28/26 without any rollover issues and won the event.

I didn't think camber plates were allowed in SSC. Are you guys getting that much front camber with just camber bolts?

Yep, most people who get less than that are not following the instructions properly on the bolts. Another guy in my local club claims 3.5 degrees.

The koni Yellows have an enlarged upper hole on both sides instead of the big hole small hole for the factory tapered bolt which is a big help to getting more camber.

Bit of a kerfuffle a few years back as this was illegal for Street class and Koni had to issue washers to limit the camber available from the bigger holes.

New Falken RT660 approved for SSC next month. I'm sure these are faster tires, but I kind of liked having longer lasting rubber as the spec tire.

SSC should be doing well in PAX competition at the remaining events this year. We finally got a realistic PAX factor for 2020 with the current tires, and now have much faster tires available.
