It seems like you will be able to decrease idle rpm to around 800 after adjusting air/fuel ratio and timing.

Incredible build sir. Congrats on getting it running. I didn't see your coolant overflow tank. How did you handle that?

I filled it halfway then installed it, just to make sure the expansion tank could pull coolant back in after all the air had purged from the system. It has a petcock valve at the bottom, to drain it if need be.

Why the 2 tanks instead of 1?

One by battery is pressurized and one under headlight is overflow. Thats how I see it anyway.

I guess I'm tying to understand how/why this is different than stock which appears to only have 1 tank

Factory fill point/radiator cap is on the upper radiator hose. He removed the factory radiator cap along with the hoses. So he added the expansion that that now houses the radiator cap and acts as a coolant system fill point and collection point for steam port lines. Then uses the overflow tank as a, well, overflow tank.

Same type of set-up can be seen on my build. Needed an easy place to fill the cooling system and a new radiator cap. Also has the added benefit as a collection point for steam port lines. I ended up relocating the factory overflow tank and re-used it.

Sorry, been busy today, thought I responded to this...

The expansion tank by the battery acts like the top of a normal radiator set up....has a nipple at the neck (like a normal radiator would) to vent coolant/air in an over pressure condition, (18ish psi) which flows to the overflow tank...from there it can expel air and pull coolant back in.

Pretty much nailed it Dustin.
