OEM brake pads

Hello,

Current OEM pads are near the end of its life with 110k km mileage on the car. I was about to get stop tech pads but then found a guy that is selling OEM pads at 80% life for $50 CAD (front and rear).

Should I just get his oem pads and call it a day or go for the stop techs which would cost around $240 CAD (front and rear).

Car is used for daily driving with a few spirited drives that are not too serious ish

I will also be getting stop tech slotted rotors regardless of either option.

Thoughts?

Buying used brake pads is buying used condoms. Unless they stopped manufacturing them just buy them new. I mean sure they might work but how soon do want to have to change them again?

I wouldn't be averse to running used oem pads. If they are really ag 80% you should get a lot of miles/$ out of 'em...

Why pinch pennies on the pads and not the rotors? Measure them, I've beat the hell out of my rotors and they've outlasted at least two sets of pads at over 90k miles.

Slotted rotors just waste money and reduce thermal mass.

If you're happy with OEM pads then the $190 saved until you need another set (at least 30k if not >60k miles based on your past experience) seems like a bangin' deal.

I wouldn't say slotted rotors are a waste of money if you drive in heavy traffic or if you drive hard. You can see noticable (usually temporary) performance degredation if push your car hard enough. On my old WRX (tastefully modded) I would notice the fade and a couple times even warped the stock rotors. That's from some pretty spirited driving or heavy traffic situations but I switched to slotted rotors and never had that problem again.

Warped rotors? Probably most common case of uneven pad material deposits on rotors. Could have aswell resurface old rotors and/or rebed properly and keep using them.

Yeah I'm too lazy to resurface usually... although now that I have three cars I could have my daily down for a few days.
