Mechanic in Portland?

Hello all, anyone know of a good mechanic in the Portland metro area who is familiar with our cars? I want to take it in to check a rattling noise. My car is 2017 and only has about 7k miles. I made a thread and update about it here - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...=134477&page=2

Last resort is to take it to the dealership I guess. Oregon City Subaru wants to charge 130/hr for diagnostic to see if they can even find the problem (but will fix if they could). Asked the service advisor I talked to if they have anyone who knows the BRZ well and his answer was "I guess". Not exactly confidence inspiring.

If you guys have any other suggestions I can go about confirming where the issue might be, I'll happily appreciate them.

Thanks!

Perhaps get a 2nd quote from another dealership? You can try talking to service manager instead of an advisor.

Is your car modified?

Also, most dealerships will charge this fee because if the cause of the rattle isn't covered by warranty, they can't bill SOA.

You are not under warranty?

First thing I would do is retorque the axle nut. 140 ft-lbs.

My car is still stock and should still be under warranty. Bought it in 2018.

AR Motorsports is good. I agree you should take it to the dealer as they will warranty it as long as it's not a wear item and you haven't modded the car. If you have modded it they may try to blame it on the mod as dealers are typically greedy and if you're willing to pay they'd rather take your money than charge Subaru. My damn axle nuts have been a persistent issue for years but I just deal with the click noises since nothing has been a permanent solution.

I know it's a lot of people's first thoughts but I don't think it's the axle nuts but I wouldn't rule it out. I've listened to videos and the sound is distinctly different; the axle nut being decidedly more metallic while mine is kinda... plastic. I will check that though just to cover all grounds.
