Fun fact - this is the most powerful production NA boxer 4 ever made (for all that we lambaste it, that's actually impressive given the emissions requirements). To be honest I'm not sure if that will ever be broken because of the way the world is going.
Betcha' a beer there is never a FI 86.

Switched over to E85... Hope it starts today! 43F out right now. I looked at the tune in RR and there are 4 more tables than all the tutorials show, plus it's in C not F, so I was hesitant to change anything yet.

Cleaning the engine bay. I have a bunch of parts removed and cleaned and did the timing cover so far.

Somoniz aluminum wheel cleaner works great but smells like horrible!! I'll mask up next time.

It doesn't really take much to clean it. I like taking things apart to see what's what.

I'm also doing so polishing while I'm in there and may do some wiring tucking. It'll give me an idea on what I want to do next winter. The combined engine/body harness drives me crazy...

Put some sound deadening in the trunk - I was chasing a rattle coming from the rear and started removing elements to eliminate them as potential sources. Didn't find the rattle (think it's coming from the outside ), but thought I might as well put some insulation before putting everything back together.

I am curious to hear your feedback on how much of a difference sound levels are vs stock

Drove from Long Island NY to Delaware and back yesterday (nothing more fun than a long road trip in the FR-S). Take a quick trip today then on the way back upon turning on the ignition I get CEL and Slip lights (never had that before). After inconclusive OBD scanning (P0018 & C1201) and research I dis/reconnected the battery to see if it comes back.

Car is completely stock and 44k mi.

Fingers crossed.

Inconclusive because the P0018 is indicative of a crankshaft problem and C1201 ECS malfunction. On this site I've read threads about this and changing out the ECS (which didn't work), engine work, slip sensor replacement, and etc. I don't want to spend $150 for a Toyota tech's best guess.

Well, that may be better (cheaper) than just throwing parts at it -

If the trim would have come from the factory blacked out, would you have painted it silver?

From what I read here that's what the Toyota techs do: change the crankshaft position sensor then the error may/may not go away. Then when it returns they change the ECU. Then after that they take your camshaft apart charging you $$ every step along the way until you get a $6k bill at the end.

What a pain, this car has been trouble free (minus crickets/condensation in the tail lights/leaky cam plate) but being babied and with so few miles I didn't expect a CEL that keeps coming back.

With zero warranty left would I have better luck at a Subaru dealership? These engines aren't the servicing nightmare of a rotary but I don't want to finance guesses.
