Help Understand OTS4.0 vs OTS vs Wayno 2.0 UEL VVT AVCS Tables
I am running a MY16 BRZ MT JDL UEL headers and UQFP, Perrin silicone tube and Green Filter Drop In. F00C ECU. found that stage 1 MAF seems like a good baseline.
Stage 2 MAF is too rich, Stage 1 MAF scaling is a bit too lean in certain areas, so what i did is made a new Table as average of Stage 1 and Stage 2. I was on OTS2.0 with tweaks, switched to OTS4.0 tune so i can log the MAF voltage, IAM, LTFT now, etc (that was not avail on 2.0 for me and others). the OTS4.0 seems more linear and does not "feel" to pull as hard as OTS2.0 to me, so i thought to explore the difference in tables in similar ROMs. so i decided to open RomRaider and compare the tables for different found something very interesting regarding the VVT AVCS tables for UEL headers adn thought i throw it out for discussion. additionally, do you feel that the 4.0 UEL VVT tables are more refined than OTS2.0 or wayno? wayno vs shiv 2.0 VVT tables
and then... I realized that even the Wayno UEL is different from Shiv OTS2.0 UEL, which i thought wayno based or copied Shiv's UEL tables per previous posts ?

i guess one of my biggest questions is if VVT tables have to be matched with timing maps (i Knock correction A) or can SHivs 4.0 VVT tables match with Waynos optimized Timing maps ?

Everything interacts in tuning. Changing camm timing can effect the amount of ignition timing you can run. Changing fueling can effect timing etc. If you change stuff you need to test and log.
A lot of pro tuners do tuning on dyno only and may be just interested in peak power figures so concetrate on that area. Take a lot of road miles and logging to sort out low and midrange and partial throttle. |

i use since weeks the wayne's cam intake advance table
it s so smooth my car seems an electric car at low rpm but it consumes more than a Corvette now, i accelerate with few throttle and dash says i consume 1.6km/l while with more common cam intake table i never saw less than 5km/l can t find a way to consume less fuel.. i tried everything from leaning out closed loop afr to add a lot of timing till it knocks..always drinks like a V8..but well it s super smooth |

BTW the OTS 4.0 Stage 2+ has the UEL VVT AVCS tables, close/similar to the JDL numbers
while the OTS 4.0 stage 2 is the equivalent of EL in OTS2.0 and the OTS 4.2 stage 2+ is closer to the OTS 2.0 UEL (similar to JDL) Last edited by neilvosko; 05-20-2018 at 05:28 PM. |

Here's what I'm running right now

Here in western PA (USA), we have hills and 65--70 MPH speed limits on the highways. So high speed cruising on cruise control is around 2500--3400 RPM, at engine loads of between zero and 0.8. Full throttle is a bit more engine load than that, and what I discovered was that if I was very careful about where I started enriching and opening the cams for more power, I could have good consumption when cruising while still have good WOT performance. So I start running more rich around 0.9, and also hold off on opening the cams until 0.85 around cruising speed, only allowing them to open at lower load above 3700. Then I followed Wayne's hints and smoothed the transition between the two regions. These tables started off as a v3.0 tune, and that's what I'm comparing to. All of the higher RPM changes are derived from Tor's results; all the low (3600-and-under) RPM changes are my own work, as is where the shift in AFR is in these tables. I've also had to retard the timing a bit in the higher cruising band and at low RPM / high power. My car is a '14 BRZ, with a JDL Catted UEL, otherwise stock exhaust, and a panel filter on an otherwise stock intake. This is still a work-in-progress. In particular getting the AFR to stay really right under 2000 RPM is pretty fiddly and I'm still working on it. At this point I'm sure I want to be above 13:1 when at and below 2200, but I haven't been able to get this closer than +/-0.5 yet. |

i have much leaner primary open loop and closed loop tables than that, and at low rpm my mileage still sky rockets
those cam intake (always low rpm and under 0.8 of load i m talking) looks stock and cam exhaust at maximum 30 probably are the ones helping you consuming less but i dont like at all those cam settings, car is not smooth at low rpm with wayne cam setting and exhaust similar to stock ( 40 instead of 30) car is SOOOO smooth it s almost embarassing how smooth it is.. but... mileage sucks : ( |

the JDL VVTs with my JDL UEL catted headers have an annoying drone note around 3000 -+400 RPM.
the UEL VVTs from OTS 4.0 Stage 2 sound great, nice rumble, cleaner than JDL going to try the VVTs from ots 4.0 Stage 2+, which have similar intake profile |
