Water Leak inside passenger side floorboard
See pics for detail.
Water is leaking into the passenger side floorboard. I've installed dynamat and run a power wire for amplifiers to the back of the car through the rubber boot next to the battery. Inspected that thoroughly and it isn't coming from there. Anyone else had similar issues? Has yet to rain for me to check again. I'd like to do some more homework on this issue before going to the dealership and having them tell me, oh,you installed a power cable, that's your issue... Cheers, Mick |

my guess is that you pulled the a/c drain hose loose from the unit up under the right side dash

Is the ac drain hose you have pictured there going through the firewall and onto the outside? If that cable is clogged or pinched, water could overfill the ac and fill the passenger side cabin.
The ac removes moisture from the cabin and spits the water onto the ground through that tube. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

yes, that tube in the center of the picture goes to the outside. I haven't used the AC in many months, might it still be a potential source of the issue? I have been using the heat daily.
Would I be checking for the connection up top or outside the car? Cheers, Mick |

Up top. Also, make sure the hose is not clogged.

Yep my guess would be the ac drain hose too. I had this happen on my last vehicle, there was a clog in the system so it wouldn't drain, and the water would back up and flow into the passenger side under the glovebox.
I don't know how the internals look on this dash, but your problem sounds the same. |

The air conditioner runs any time you turn on the defroster to help remove moisture from the air that causes window fogging. I agree with everyone else. You may have either inadvertently disconnected the hose or pinched it while installing the dynamat or power cable.

It could also just be coincidence it clogged same time after you did dynamat. Like I mentioned earlier this happened on my previous car. the drainage tube discharges outside somewhere. In my previous vehicle it was in wheel well, and it over time got clogged with dirt/dust/mud. I took a clothes hanger and bent it straight, poked around a little into the tube where it exits. Took air canister and sprayed a bit. And the issue stopped.

I was going to suggest the boot you had to use for the amp wire install, i've been paranoid about that (so far so good).
Otherwise, check the sound generator tube thing - there's a rubber bung there that isn't too tight fitting. |

Checked the AC tube at the start of the AC waste tube and the end, dry at both places. I made sure the AC hose was securely attached at the top, even blew some air through it, no obstructions.
There is also something above where the AC waste-water exits that looks like a bung, but it also was dry. I'm pretty clueless as to what is going on here. The majority of the water appears to be coming from somewhere under the metal piece I have in the picture. Edit: Also, I checked the gasket where the amplifier wires come through, and there is no water up there, and it would be difficult for it to also get around the battery without getting something else wet up there. |

You're probably going to need to run a hose on it. Tape it to the roof of your car and let it run down the right side of the windshield onto the cowl, then crawl in through the driver side and see if you can locate it.
Or you can let the dealer look at it, but if it's from any of your mods they probably will want you to pay, that's why I suggest you verify it isn't first. Has your windshield been replaced by any chance? How long between when you installed your amp wire and the leak started? |

Now that it's summer and I have the A/C on often, I am also having this problem on a completely stock '13 BRZ.
Apparently, so is this driver and this one. My cabin air filter is fine, checked that today. I can't tell if the rubber hose is clogged because while I can remove the end of it from the passenger floor, I am not sure how to disconnect it from the plastic up behind the dash. It sure doesn't feel clogged, however. Anyone have any additional ideas? Obviously this is not related to the mod initially mentioned in this thread. |

That drain tube doesn't necessarily have to be clogged at the bottom. The narrow spout at the bottom of the A/C box that leads into the tube could be clogged. You could try to remove it(the tube) and poke it out(the spout) with a clothes hanger or something.
