LOL. Yeah. I don't doubt there are those who can spot the most minute thing in builds.

I'm only in one scale model group on fb, and it's super laid back and skills vary from terrible (to be blunt) to masters. Haven't seen the not pickers there.

Yep. Gold star senior top of the pack. Their work is often not a whole lot better than what they critique though.

Tried CF decal'ing the vented hood. Pretty dang hard! Got some creases and I'm giving up before I make it worse. I'll clear coat it when I clear the body (after attempting to fix it).

Did you use decal setting solution? Softens them up and can usually work out creases.

Yeah, used Tamiya's softening setting solution and hair dryer. The main creases are where the vents shape taper off. Not really sure what the term is for that part of a vented hood. I'll try to snap a pic.

If you look towards the cowl end of the hood, you'll see some creases. First time trying to apply a large piece decal, so maybe that contributed to it, but no matter what I did, the crease stayed or got worse. This was the smoothest I could get it, and I have no clue why that middle crease formed and wouldn't go away.

Time to learn to paint the effect. Skip to 5minutes into the video.

Nylon stocking/pantyhose/legging material stretched around a prepainted part. Can even be don with spray bombs! Lightly mist your texture color through the nylon to get your pattern. Go crazy on preparing the parts and wrapping the nylon around them into all the intricate shapes. You can then use clear it. Adding some smoke/clear black will further add depth and help with the scale illusion of the parts. I've also seen people use cheese cloth, drywall tape, and mesh sandpapers for similar effects
