You're out of date, Elises are scraping $40k already. I'm sure the overall crazy used cars market is partly to blame, but it looks like Elises have already started slowly appreciating before COVID. I doubt prices would go back to pre-pandemic, at best drop a little before continuing climbing. The Emira (and the dashed hopes for an Elise replacement) should only fuel the price appreciation of the Elise/Exige.

LOL

An Elise sold today for $60,500. Another sold yesterday for $55,000. By the time the Emira’s production is over an Elise will be as much—or more—than a base Emira.

This is one of those cars where if I already owned a home I'd probably be all in on getting one.

But while I could afford this now, I need to choose to continue saving for a home.

FU Bay Area housing prices!!

The Emira has 5 years of production. Should be enough time as long as Bay Area homes don’t get even more expensive…

It'll be built for longer than that.

And Elise prices have been climbing for the last decade. It's nothing new to anyone that's paid attention (like me, lol).

Actually I made a mistake because Lotus wants to be 100% electric by 2028. So that would mean 6 years of production.

Looks like we're getting an Emira GT4 as well.

Honestly, I love the Emira. If I was in a different tax bracket I'd call my local dealer in a heartbeat. It looks fantastic, especially in that dark green, and the specs are exactly what I'd look for in a daily-drivable sports car. I love the Cayman, too, but the Emira's styling is on a different level.

My only hope is that someone in my area secures one and brings it to Cars and Coffee.

Emira is on my short-list for next car and I even live within a reasonable driving distance from a Lotus dealer. However, all the issues that Throttle House had with the Evora has given me pause.

I'll follow the reliability closely after they come out and see how it goes.

Owned 3 Lotus over the years and a 2010 Evora for 5 years. Only maintenance has been oil changes and tyres.

You must have had "Wednesday" cars.

2022 Lotus Emira, the last ICE for the brand.

After being a part of the Lotus community, owning three with basically no issues (including many track days in the first two), I actually think the stigma around Lotus reliability is largely a myth. Even if they did blow up regularly, it’d still be worth it for the fun behind the wheel in my book

Thumbs up

Their reliability problem wasn't a myth...until they started using Toyota powertrains.

The Emira GT4 is literally the GT4 classified race car. It's not a more powerful trim street car, like the Cayman GT4 (which is also sold as a track only car). So its not surprising that we will be getting the Emira GT4 race car, as it's not street legal and requires no federal crash or emissions testing.

Was wondering how long before somebody made this very important clarification.

wouldnt everything else in a Lotus fall apart/fail before the powertrains do in regards to the Elise/Exige, Evora and Emira?

Dont they all use the Toyota 2GRFE V6 (except early S2 elise/exige with the 2zz-ge) motor paired to what i read was a Toyota diesel truck 6MT (which Lotus reworked to make it feel like a sports car tranny)
