Just placed an order for a Manual, Base, Red today at my dealer just west of the one mentioned above in alberta. At msrp, 4-5 month wait, should be confirmed when the order gets placed. Pretty stoked. If anybody knows of anyone looking for a first gen 2017 red, manual base, 29000km. Hit me up. Need to sell it.

They’re still taking orders? I thought the books were closed for Canada…unless I read that wrong.

No idea. Hope i'm not in for a surprise tbh. We'll see. I'm on the list at the same dealer #2 slot for a Corolla GR too. Gonna be an agonizing waiting game.

Orders closed in January. Dealers can take your "order" but that doesn't mean it goes on a build list or anything.

Thanks a lot for sharing, just traded in my 2016 BRZ Hikari at openroad peace arch, ordered base MT with Halo paint, I guess I will have to wait for a while, from what I can see there are more BRZs than GR86s coming in.

So if those 'orders' from the dealer are not going to the build list in the factory, does it mean that we have to wait till someone cancel their order or till next year?

Honestly not sure what's happening right now. I just got called into my dealer today to put a deposit down, and his words exactly when asked the question about availability, We shouldn't have an issue, i'm getting quoted 3-4 months. Seemed incredibly confident that i would have one by August. So i'm confused...

It could mean a couple of things.
They could be putting your name against an already allotted stock vehicle. This would be more of a "reservation" than an order although the end result is the same for you.

Or they could be putting in an actual order for a 2023.

Either way it will be a hit and miss when it will actually show up.

Thanks for confirming this!
My dealer insist that they can still place order in their 'system' lol
He also mentioned there is another customer booked 1 last month, and now the car shows 'building wip' in their system, it will arrive end of May.
Not sure how he got that info but I would say maybe he was able to get one from somewhere for that customer...

Pretty optimistic to say it is building now and will be here in three weeks or a month considering...

"Average/ Estimated port-to-port shipping times from Tokyo or Yokohama, Japan to Canadian cities once the vessels leave are as follows: Vancouver: 21 days. Toronto: 25 days. Montreal: 26 days."

Even if it was built and ready at port today it is highly unlikely it would be at the dealer by the end of May.
