They’re tri-coats.

That said, Subaru doesn’t charge extra for them.

I just ran a 36 month 16K km/year lease comparison.

BRZ sport-tech manual vs. GR86 Premium manual, i.e. same models.

Taxes in, the Toyota is $180 more per month than the Subaru. That's $6,480 more over the life of the 3-year lease.

I really wanted Neptune Blue, but not that bad.

You could get a BRZ wrapped that shade for less probably.

I'm not sure if that 5.99% lease rate for GR on Canadian page is official or just a place holder. If it's true then that would be insane compared to BRZ rates...

As did I. Fortunately for me I also like the world rally blue.

It becomes a no-brainer for us Canadians where unless you have no or extremely remote Subaru dealer presence or want the Neptune blue which is Toyota exclusive or dark blue which seems exclusive to Toyota Canada, the BRZ is the best choice.

Further not helped if you want Halo or Track bRed as Toyota charges extra. Toyota also appears to charge a slight bit more for PDI& Freight, $65 extra it seems.

Speculation on my part, going off the Goodcarbadcar Canadian data for both cars. If this car succeeds in Canada, Subaru is likely to be the one pushing volume for them this time, FRS did it the last time. Their sales have been consistently above 600 units per year when the car was available contrast to 86 numbers which have been hovering around 250 with a bigger dealer network.

I like world rally blue also. My '13 was that colour.

My biggest problem with the '22 BRZ is the stupid grin on its face, made worse now by the air vents giving the stupid grin dimples.

I think I'm going to order a black one, so the front end all blends together. All that red in the interior will look better with black paint also. Or any other paint colour than blue, IMO.

Thank you for the advice, but the 5.99% just does not make sense to me. For those who will be leasing a GR, aside from cosmetic differences the BRZ is essentially the same car. what is stopping potential buyers to lease from Subaru for 1.99% and swapping the front bumper? Are people willing to pay a lot more for the Toyota badge? Was this also the case for the previous generation release? How is Toyota confident enough to put out this ridiculous rate when there are practically no differentiation between the two vehicles?

I thought the same thing with the smiley face, but with WRB, it makes it looks so much less noticeable and adds a good depth to the front end of the car. I was waiting for the GR86 also, but I went to Subaru to reserve a vehicle. Little did I know, there was one on the lot. Made the decision easier seeing the front end in person.

For myself since I'm set on the colour if I'm truly going Gen 2, I'm personally going to do a bumper swap. I have to say the actual BRZ pictures by owners makes it look better than the official photos, but GR86 also looks even better compared to the press photos as well.

Basically I'm going to pursue my perfect(for me) Gen 2 look.
