Now that I've been transporting my kid in the backseat, this has been annoying me. Damn door keeps closing on my arse as I'm lifting my kid out of the carseat.

I personally do not need or want any of the new safety nannies (AEB, BSM, ACC etc). ABS and TC (that can be switched off if desired) is all I need. However, I understand Toyota will be under pressure to include all the latest safety nannies if they want the best safety rating. So I suspect the next gen twins will get all this stuff (that adds weight, cost, and complexity). Oh well.

That reactive cruise control thingie is brilliant on long boring hyway drives, plus no speeding going down hills.
As stated, if you don't want to use it...don't, pretty simple really. Not everyone is "speed racer" every time they are behind the wheel. Plus I'm all for people turning off all the nannies because they "don't need them", it just means a constant supply of parts coming from auto wreckers. Shop smart, shop auto wreckers.

I've driven the new Swift with really annoying and overly sensitive lane departure warning and AEB, and it gets old really fast. Nothing worse than the system going nuts every time you take a corner perfectly within your lane, or when in stop and start congested traffic. It wouldn't be such an issue if all the systems were really well tuned, but some of them are not, they are too sensitive and intervene or blurt out warnings in perfectly safe circumstances. Quote:
