P0332 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Low Input (Bank2)
Does anyone know where this sensor is located? I am going to pull it out and run some tests on it, possibly buy a new one.
Thanks |

Is there any way to tell which is which? Was planning on replacing #2 only.
Just looked under the hood and was able to spot both sensors. The one on the drivers side will be relatively easy to get to without removing the manifold. The passenger side one looks accessible as well, but will be more of a PITA. Last edited by B-R-Z; 05-28-2020 at 08:59 PM. |

I was able to get the sensor off without taking off the manifold. I had to buy a long low profile ratchet swivel wrench from harbor freight which was perfect for this sensor.
I powered up the ECU with the sensor disconnected and confirmed the driver-side sensor is knock sensor 2 since I got P0333 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit High Input (Bank 2). I did some tests using a multi-meter and found the battery is expired so I need to repeat this process when I get a new battery. My main battery voltage was reading inconsistently so I'm not sure how much I can trust any of these results. I read that I am supposed to see 5 volts going to the sensor. I connected the positive lead of the multi-meter to the plug from the car and negative to ground and got a 3.19 reading. |

Curious if your CEL was resolved by a new battery? Or did you replace the sensor itself? I just got P0327 (same condition, other side) a few minutes ago.. Coincidentally, I just replaced my original battery just a few weeks ago with a nice new AGM Miata battery from East Penn/Deka. No issues with cranking the car up, even after sitting for days, but the CEL just popped on as I was cruising along at 30mph or so. I cleared it, but it came right back..
I might put a battery tender on the car tonight, then clear the CEL and see if it comes back...

Meanwhile I ordered 2 nice looking used ones on ebay for a good price for when and if the code comes back. I replaced my batter in January 2018 so it's unrelated to my code. |

Interesting. After I swapped the battery for the smaller Miata unit, I'd been doing just quick 5 minute errand driving for the week or so prior to the code, plus I've been working from home so the car stays parked for days on end. I cleared the code, rechecked the connections on my terminals, and put a battery tender on the car overnight, and voila - no more code. If this is because of the smaller battery, I might need to hard wire a battery tender pigtail and have it sticking out the front grille for when colder weather comes..
