Best injector cleaner
What fuel injector and intake cleaner you guys use?
My Subaru manual says every 15.000km it needs injector cleaner, but as local dealer doesn't stock it I did a search and found the following. In USA there are two different kits from Subaru and Toyota (SOA868V9150 & 00289-INDKT) that clean intake, throttle plate and injectors, unfortunately none available in Europe. There is also available a carbon cleaner SOA868V9165 through Subaru and Toyota that needs a special tool to apply it through an intake vacuum hose. In Australia there is a top engine cleaner SA459, sprayed directly on intake vacuum hose along with a fuel additive. Finally in Japan Subaru sells a PEA based (75% poly-ether amine!) injector cleaner K0879Y0010 as fuel additive, which is the strongest available product on the market in it's category, but expensive too! Interesting, almost all Japanese manufacturers have their own PEA based injector cleaners from the same Nippon factory, as it's the most powerful ingredient in every effective intake/injector/engine cleaning product. I decided to follow this path but Subaru PEA isn't available outside Japan as it's extremely flammable. Fortunately the HKS DDR 52006-AK003 is the same exact product available from some e-shops. |

That's weird how your manual says to use fuel additives! Here in the US, our manuals says not to
Chevron Techron is what Porsche recommends on their vehicles. |

I recommend sending your injectors to a place like FIC.

The twins don't require upper engine cleaner, the D-4S port injectors clean the valves.
Unlike the FA20 in the WRX or the EJ25 in the STI. GO TOYOTA

I know what D4S does for our valves but I don't underestimate Subaru schedule that mentions clearly fuel injector cleaner every 15.000Km, may be the injectors themselves need cleaning not the valves!

That's what I am going to use, Subaru uses the PEA Subaru cleaner in Japan but as I can't find it available in Europe I am going to use HKS DDR which is the same exactly product!

I use Chevron Techron once a year. Plus, D4S port injectors are supposed to take care of cleaning direct injectors.

18k miles on this motor: just to show carbon deposits in the combustion chamber despite PIs and DIs, and to show that the DI injectors are pretty buried.
