To be fair, this doesn't explicitly say that the remaining 40% of tread is only as good as an all season, it only says that it isn't the multicell compound.
From my understanding, the WS50 line was winter on top of all seasons. The WS60+ changed that. I know the WS80 has the top layer as the Multicell compound and the bottom is the original Winter tire compound. The Multicell compound is at the wear bar after my first season.

That doesn't sounds unreasonable, but do you have a source from Bridgestone that confirms that? Dont want to be spreading misinformation.

I have run Altimax Arctics on two of my previous winter DD's Altima and Maxima and absolutely loved them. What a great tire for the money. Phenomenal wear, and traction in deep snow or ice that was beyond impressive.

Which Part?

WS90:
Beneath the Multi-Cell compound is Bridgestone's best winter compound, but without the Multi-Cell feature. Source: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...l=Blizzak+WS90

WS60:
The Blizzak WS60 features a dual-compound tread with Bridgestone's silica-enhanced Tube Multicell compound layered on top of a standard winter compound. Source:https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...l=Blizzak+WS60

I can't see the WS80 going back to all season

A test of some premo winter tires here for 2018 model tireS. Interesting first place result as I haven't heard of that model of continental tire.
The Michelin x-ice scored low on this list due to poor ice performance comparatively. I found that funny.

I haven't tried any others, but the Blizzak WS80 has served me well through 3 winters. If you're driving on dry roads more often than not, they'll likely wear out within a couple of seasons of use, but even worn down they're still way better than trying to drive on anything else in the snow.

EDIT: That last line came out a little more loaded than intended. By "anything else" I meant any non-winter tire.

I've used all sorts over the years...early Gislaved Frost, Vredestein Grip, Nokian Hakkapeliitta, Dunlop Graspic DS3, Conti ExtremeWinterContact...and I just picked up a lightly used set of Uniroyal Ice & Snow 3s, with studs, for this season. I can't wait for snow.

Can anyone confirm (or deny) if the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ tires have the M+S logo on them? Thinking about getting a set of these but the Mountain/Snowflake or M+S logo is required.

Not thinking so.

Look for a dedicated winter tire if the 3PMS is required.

Tire Rack has a filter in their search for 3PMS.

They only have 2 tires in 215-45-R17 with that rating.

They do not. They are not a rated snow tire. I use them for about 8 months a year but real snows go on when the temperature gets consistently below 40. Soooo... any day now.

Those all look to be Studded tires.

I've only ever used studless

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. It may be different up here in Canada but I looked at some Michelin A/S 3's at Costco this evening and they had the M+S rating. Tire guy there said all of their "all season" tires have the M+S rating...
So I guess I'll give them a whirl !

Well over on my side of Canada they don’t have the symbols on the tires. That said they would probably be great if you are on the island or coast. If you are inland or actually do mountain roads in the winter they will let you down. They are a great three season tire but struggle in dep snow or extreme cold.
