Maybe the connector itself is not that expensive and it is a plug and play replacement?

Also, non-motor related stuff still has warranty and I have gotten work done from my dealer for non power train related stuff.
The cable is OBD2 port is an entire cable and assembly and is $800 from Carson Toyota, major labor to swap.

Warranty might be worth it but not if the car is all modded and tuned.

Have you tried a different cable? I know @swift996 had a similar problem that ended up being a bad ecutek cable.

I just responded. sucks about digikey. But for people having an issues its the female pins on the OBD2 they are extremely sensitive. 3 of mine were destroyed. 5 of 6 OBD2 scanners would flicker or not work.

Re-wired it and used an extension cable for all my OBD2 needs now not to damage main port.

Does the plastic port itself originally have some play to it? Just noticed today as I was switching between OFT and BT adapter, some wiggling of the port itself. Connection seems okay, will get an OBD extender/splitter.

Just rewired mine, it wouldn't have been such a bad job if you didn't have to be a contortionist in order to access the wires under the dash. The proper tools also make the job MUCH easier. I picked up an extremely overpriced Delphi ratcheting crimper, but it gave perfect, clean crimps every time.

That's how the symptoms usually starts to present. My bluetooth adapter would drop connection randomly over bumps, same with my ecutek cable while logging and hitting bumps. I found that if i ran the wire on the ecutek connector in a manner such that it kept pressure on connector while in the obd2 port that it would help a little, but it continued to get worse (to the point where i lost connection in the middle of flashing a new rom a couple times.)

Repinning it seems to be the only real solution.

If you run an OBD2 BT adapter like OBD2MX the male pins are very thick and the factory OBD2 female pins will get damaged after only 10 or so connections. Always use an extension cable for these.
