I'm hearing that the C8 destorys the Supra because it starts at $60K. As I said in the C8 thread, I'm incredibly skeptical about the C8. I see the Supra being an amazing daily driver and a capable performer for most real world situations at a higher quality than the C8. I agree the Supra in its current form is NOT a $80-100K car without some major upgrades, but for $60K it should be an exceptional value.

I'm excited to see how Toyota builds upon the Surpa. I'm sort of "blah" for how Chevy will shave a few more seconds off of straight line performance with a super charger above speeds of 120+ when that isn't usable in 99% of situations.

Also, the C8 is damn ugly. I can't wait for reviews of the car on the street outside of a track environment. I'm still on team Supra.

Oh, there is no comparing the C8 to a Mclaren.

Mclaren compared to the C8? No. Oh no no no. The C8, like all of Chevy's current lineup, is totally uninspired without any design direction. But the C7 is garbage too, so it shouldn't be too jarring in person.

At least I can give credit to Toyota for having direction and an idea of a design. Weird or no, it is trying something.

Toyota Supra too powerful for its stock tires?

Guy Picks Up 2020 Toyota Supra From Dealer, Takes It Directly to the Drag Strip, Struggles for Grip

Source: Jalopnik

Cliff notes: Stock tires spin pretty easily with 335hp. Slicks might shave 1.5 seconds to make the 1/4mi time ~11 instead of 12.5

To be fair it's making 330whp not the 330hp as advertised.

Maybe that’s where everyone will go to get their Supra now. Good advertisement for not being a douchebag dealer too.

The C8 will be a better platform for performance. It’ll get better traction. It’ll handle better. It’ll make more power from the factory. The Supra has the tuning advantage because it comes with a turbo. By the time someone puts $10+k into the Supra it may be faster in a straight line from a roll, but the C8 is the better platform overall. I’ll even wager the C8 will be more enjoyable and engaging with a DCT, with the mid-engine, with a torque NA engine, with the shorter hood, with better traction and handling, and with a more cockpit interior.

I did a search of Supras for sale within 300 miles of Daytona Beach FL. The lowest price I saw was $78,999 and the highest was $159K. One was even listed as used with 5 miles on it for $79,999. I guess they better do all their gouging before the C8 comes out.
