In fact they don't even have the facts from the paper they are quoting correct since they say it is only the Twins and the original says it is all the vehicles.

While I agree they are just repeating the same information, they did not say it is only the twins. They said the twins were the only specific model named so far. Semantics, I know. I must be bored. Lol

I don't see how there can be 5 years of bad valve springs. That's a lot of questionable wire.

Well considering that the valves were changed in 2017 it could be just the later engines. What doesn't make sense to me is the mention that different models may be involved. Surely they don't all use the exact same springs across all the engine versions.

Maybe the factory that produced the majority of Subaru's valve springs failed some kind of quality check?

If the supplier was getting steel for springs from one of the companies making crap alloys, I'd expect multiple parts to have the same problem. That assumes they don't get every spring from a different supplier, which my limited time working on supply chain management tools suggests isn't unreasonable.

Won't know till the official papers are filed.

Towel packed and ready.

Would be odd for several different parts to make it past quality checks for a prolonged period but most certainly not out of the realm of possibilities.
If there is any accuracy to the reports we should know in a few days.

As long as the solution isn't "lower the redline" ...

My previous car made peak HP at redline and appeared to be still on the climb... done because there was worry about valve spring issues and warranty if they went higher. Pity - I was 2HP shy of the factory crank rating, but at the wheels... without any mods.

Not totally sure. Luck of the draw, maybe. I also hold (as far as I know) the record for 1/4 mile time as shipped from the factory (tires were garbage) so it seems likely luck. I've only been to the 1/4 that once, ever... It was a 2001 ACR and not many were made.

I'd rather have good valve springs then a red manifold.

Considering we know nothing about if this recall will happen or which years and models that it applies to... you may very well end up having both bad valve springs AND a boring black plastic manifold with 5 less horses
