Bachelors and Masters of Applied Science, Aerospace Engineering, from Toronto back in the day. Thought about starting a PhD afterward and even had funding lined up but couldn't think of a thesis topic that I could see committing 3-4 years of my life to. Now I manage a department full of engineers.

That's it. That good restaurant needs an ad campaign. See? I can't even remember its name. Wasn't it Alice's or something?

I'm pursuing a BBA in marketing right now. Any tips you would give to a junior in college?

My biggest piece of advice would probably be to start thinki ND about the topics in class that you find actually interesting. I had a bad habit of making the grade, rather than getting into the material. Forget the grade. Try to relate the material to the kind of job you might want, and ask questions about theory and application. You're paying to be there, so don't be scared to speak up. It's okay to not know things. That's the point of college.

Also, if you haven't started thinking about what you might want to do, now is a good time. I don't mean you have to figure it out, but if you have a vague idea, you can use this time to start gear g up and building both your personal skill set and your resume for it.

The degree may get you the job, but it's your skills and work that get promotions, pay raises, or even the confidence to do it on your own or take on bigger challenges.

Sorry for the essay. I get pumped up about talking to students about this. I teach my first class this summer!

He was making fun of my useless degree. The irony is that a philosophy degree, in practice, is about seeing how all those fine ideas are a load of crap. It should be called an anti-philosophy degree.
