Question Perrin air intake

I put a new Perrin air intake (not the cold air intake) on my 2013 FRS with 42k miles and I got a check engine light. I pulled the codes and it's telling me the fuel is too lean, rich, or a fuel injector issue. Has anyone had this problem? Do I need to disconnect the ECU when I install it? I have ordered a open flash tablet to tune it, would that help? Thanks so much.

You mean the Inlet hose ( it connects to the throttle body) ? If so double check the MAF connection wiring harness and double check everything

Make sure you did not overtighten the connection to your airbox. If you crushed the plastic bit you might have a leak.

My guess is it's leaking somewhere. You shouldn't need a tune to keep the fuel trims within acceptable values with just the inlet pipe. Do you have an aftermarket filter or air box?

I would also make sure the inlet isn't rubbing on the accessory belt, that can wear through if it's bad enough. Probably not the problem now since it is new, but just something to take note of.

I put a K&N filter where the OEM one should be. I saw that the inlet hose is really close to the belt, so I made sure that is is far enough away. My next question is how would I find a leak?

Take it apart again and inspect everything, Cracks, buckles, loose connections ect. There are 2 connections between the MAF and the throttle body. Should not be hard to find.

One easy way is to get some carb cleaner and spray around any connection points. If the idle changes and revs up a bit, there's your leak.

It evaporates rather quickly, so it doesn't make a mess and is formulated to be burned in an engine.

Oiled filter? MAF cleaner is your new best friend.

Also, some aftermarket filters in the stock air box can be unintuitively tricky. Make sure the two tabs on the sides of the air box are underneath the bracket, not to either side of the bracket. Pics below show correct installation.

Other than that, just make sure both band clamps on the inlet hose are seated completely around the pipes the hose connects to. If the bottom is kicked out a bit, the hose won't seal.

The perrin intake is one of thoes that drastically changes the maf reading, and you need a tune to compensate.
