STI flexible draw stiffener experience anyone?
I am ordering the car and I have a bit discount on all accessories vs. buying after. I want STI flexible tower brace, I read nothing but greatness on it.
But also I am considering the draw stiffener, and I cannot find much info on it. i have found on two occasions that people reported much worse handling after install and this piece causing understeer. Can anybody please relate, who installed this part separately so could feel the difference? Thanks. |

I'm curious about this as well. I think the ones reporting understeer had also changed the roll bar too so it was most likely that which was causing it. I'm also curious about the difference between the stock V-braces and the STI flexible V-braces (not the same as the flexible tower brace).

The flexible tower brace and the draw stiffeners work together, no point in having just one installed.

I think it only flexes with certain forces. The STI endurance racing team has used them for years and a lot of people have reported positive results so apparently it works. I'm more curious about the V-braces though:

I guess I just think it's bs since it doesn't have any real evidence of working and seems to counter the only thing that people buy these things for (not that I think regular stbs accomplish much either)

For me, installed the drawstiffeners and I felt an improvement in overall responsiveness through corners. It’s not massive but it’s there. I can’t complain about understear. I certainly views these as a plus.
I now have the flexible tower bar and I don’t feel much with that. It’s been so long since I been stock that it’s hard to remember any difference. I have no complaints tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Flexible bracing technology is awesome and amazing for comfort but extremely expensive.
Even when not flexing, these are meant to be softer than say a solid one piece design. These and the Trd under braces are the only 2 piece crossmember braces for our cars, and the one piece underbody braces add a ton of NVH. |

@kuczynskika Thanks. Did you notice the car more "planted" / "on rails" also during hi-speed straight driving after the install?

You can have the tower brace alone. I have this part in my Forester and my BRZ and it works perfect. The draw stiffeners cannot be installed alone and have a prerequiste to have already the tower brace.
