Lower Control Arms- offset/angles comparision

So I am weak on my suspension basics:
if there is a thread you can direct me to that covers this, much appreciated, I'll delete this, PM Me

so...

how do I go and choose the right LCA? some are steel, some alum, some offset, some not, some look flimsy and are less money, some cost more, why buy them?

is aluminum a risk for r-compound use?

is having offset helpful, or not?

are some designs weaker from a failure angle?

is fatigue a concern with hollowed out alum? most oe alum isnt hollow looking at mini's and BMW porsches etc

I dont want to discount random posts, but there are guru's in this crowd, RCE, strano's etc type guys who I am looking for feedback from who can tell me why one is beneficial for someone with my needs

whats different there vs the above, etc?


using a lobed H&R bolt in the stock innermost factory location, I can get pretty close to symmetrical in the back, on an alignment rack, static rear camber close to -1.8L/2.0R with the stock LCAs, but I am dropped a bit over an inch front and rear(1.5) on GC race coilovers.

My shop didnt take a caster angle on the rear end, so I am clueless as to what if anything needs to be done.

Toe is fine in the back at present .005" each side
What do I need in a camber arm an why?
what else do I need to adjust?

Good lord those SPC's are super skinny at the rod end. I'd dodge those.

I have the SPCs.. They are a fine product.

Stance, SPC, and Cusco are all great options. The Stance arms also give you the ability to go a bit lower if you want. SPC is great for those on a budget who need the camber correction.

1. From reading the Stance description it seems the lowering is not adjustable? It just lowers the rear by 25mm. Is this correct? So with my RCE yellows I'd be at -25mm front, -50mm rear?

2. Does the lowering afforded by these arms negatively effect bump travel and geometry (ie. does it mess up handling like lowering springs that lower more than 1" on the stock dampers)

You raise the coilover to compensate. It adds more shock travel.

1. Correct, the lowering is not adjustable. These are designed to be used with coilovers to adjust the height so you will not have a wonky reverse rake.

2. No, these arms raise the hub mounting point to achieve the advertised lowering. This keeps the strut mounting position the same and therefore should not affect suspension travel.

Are you competing? Whiteline, Cusco, or similar milled aluminum arm. Not competing/on a budget? SPC arms.

I'm going to go ahead and call SPC and notify them that their arms are not worthy of competition. They might not know.
