If you’re comparing those 2, don’t forget Harrop. Same blower as Edelbrock, but lighter manifold, better cooling, no MAF problems, and the bypass valve doesn’t fail as often.

Don't forget Vortech! Well built, rebuildable too. Don't think you're supposed to run them in extreme cold though (like below 20F I think).

Savagegeese pretty much killed vortech in this crowd.

The Jackson Racing kit kind of makes the Vortech kit moot. The JRSC has a better powerband and a wider range of operation.

Yeah quite possibly, although I believe the Vortech is a bigger unit than the c30 used in the jackson kit. Move to a c38 and your power curve suffers a bit too. But yeah the rotrex units are more sexy high-tech and the vortech units seem old tech to me. But mine works, I slapped a 3.125 pulley on it and had my tuner limit at the top end and it gives it a fatter midrange (for a centrifugal unit). Move to E85 and you can get some pretty big power without swapping the unit, although I'd bet there is more parasitic drag from these than the c30's. Anyways, talking about reliability, I think the vortech units are pretty stout with the exception of the cold weather thing so keep that in mind. Also rebuildable vs replacement - they all wear out over time. The rotrex units I'm sure are reliable enough, but like others the failures I've read about were enough to give me some pause. But then again my vortech will probably self destruct tomorrow gotta be willing to take risks with any aftermarket FI products.

You can't compare size; a C30 spins nearly 2x faster than the Vortech.

Yeah not really directly comparing size - two entirely different compressors. Was referring to headroom - a vortech compressor is capable of moving more air than a C30 with the smaller pulley, more comparable to a C38. It is going to drag the engine more than a C30, like a larger C38 unit. They all work pretty well, just thought I'd raise it as an option, it's not obsolete, my car gets up and goes pretty darned good

I think it was install difficulties, he had an early kit. Don't think he liked the washer fluid tank in particular. He did like the power though, even though it was a conservative tune. Videos are on youtube. I think in general he was just somewhat sour on the car and the whole modified/tuner car experience, not sure if that was his thing at the end of the day.

It's certainly his thing now. Have you watched his car reviews on YouTube? I respect his perspective of wanting a turn key car, but that's really not what this car is. He's still super sour about this car.

I think he was expecting the car to be more than it could reasonably be.

Yeah to each their own. I like the later vids better than the early ones. This car, as we all know, is polarizing. I think that's what I like about it back on track dont disregard the Vortech kits. Rotrex based units might show slight benefits on the dyno, but it's really hard to compare apples to apples. I'm pretty unbiased despite having a Vortech unit, I will tell you there is a thing about running the Vortech below something like 25 degrees F, and I dont start the car when it's that cold. Could be a real pain in the ass, but I have my 4runner for those days. Otherwise they have been on the market as long as any kit, tried and true unit. Worry more about the quality of install and tune vs. which kit you get.
