When to upgrade fueling?

I am a few weeks away from installing my turbo kit. It did not come with fueling upgrades, it said its not needed. I am getting some conflicting reports with this now.

Aim is 275 whp on 93 octane. I've been told stock is fine. I've been told upgrade fuel pump. I've been told upgrade injectors and pump, ive been told upgrade injectors.

Obviously I have no idea. What say you turbo guys? I really don't care either way, I just don't want to hop on the dyno for a tune and the guy says "need more fuelz!! lulz" I just don't want to do the effort if I don't need to.

Thanks!

Could you help us by mentioning which turbo kit you bought? Some may need the extra fuel capacity for your goals, but it's not likely. I am not a turbo owner, but I've been following the FI kits available.

If your goal is more power than the kit offers then it would be a good idea once your over the 300hp mark.
If all you want is just added power any kit will give you, you'll be fine.

Coming from my experience from turbo mr2. Our stock turbo fuel pumps are good up to 380hp.

@ 275 with 93 your fine with stock fuel mods. Close to the limit but fine. At the bare minimum uprade the fuel pump. Injectors are fine till 300

That is up to the tuner method of tuning. By increasing the use of DI injectors, close to 400 whp have been reached on stock system with 93 pumpgas. I don't recommend over taxing the DI system.

But regardless, rule of thumb is while on pumpgas no need to upgrade anything. The limits of pumpgas are around 350 whp and 12 psi.

Once you go E85, upgrade injectors and pump.

Awesome thanks!

I just picked up a fuel pump. We'll try the injectors see what can happen with them. My tuner said with this kit he starts to see rail pressure drops at about 270 hp.

I bit the bullet and did what everyone was thinking...the CX racing kit. I'll be posting a review on it in a bit. tl;dr version so far, damn high quality exhaust and IC pipes. MAF in kind of a funky spot. Wastegate and blow off are ebay specials. Replaced instantly with Tial and true Greddy bov. Not even messing around with those.
