I unsubscribed from them when they had videos driving their orange FRS and actually showed the tachometer and what gear they were in while saying it was slow. Like in one clip they said it was slow while in 5th gear going like mid-40s MPH well below like 3000 RPM (or somewhere in that range) on a straight section (I think it was also on a bit of an incline but could be wrong). Basically the most obvious, slow way to drive it.

So I had said something about that in the comments and then their producer responded to me and basically kept repeating that they did it that way on purpose to show how slow the car is.

I was just like, if you're going to own this car and then feed the "twins are slow argument" by driving it inaccurately on film, then you've lost all credibility.

And FWIW I really enjoyed their videos up until they did that.

I know what you're referring to and I think it was just to emphasize the dip / powerband and explain it better on camera. You can drop gears all you want but at its core the engine has the same powerband. To show that in a video while talking about it could be somewhat hard to do so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They generally give the car positive reviews.

You may be right! But at the time it seemed like they just focused too much on that instead of also showing the other side of it.

We were referring to the 2880 lb estimate for the 2nd gen. If it is heavier than the 1st gen, I want to know where the weight went before I complain about it. Although I don't want it to weigh more, not all lbs are created equal; some weight might be a net benefit for certain buyers, while other weight is a waste. 20lbs of sound insulation for somebody that does a lot of highway would be worth it, but a competitive autocrosser will hate it. More durable CV joints will be appreciated by autocrossers, but wasted on the highway driver.

I would prefer if weight increases in certain components or structures were offset by weight reductions in others, but that strategy could lead to unacceptable cost increases. If they are targeting sub-$30k, there is a limit to what they can do. I personally would have no issue spending $2k to pull another 100lbs out of it, but I realize I'm probably in the minority.
