How cold did you run your Vortech kit?

Hey,

I stored my car for the winter but I'm curious what kind of weather other people ran their car using a supercharger. (in my case, it's a Vortech).

I plan on taking my car out around mid-april, when the temperatures should be around 5-10 degrees C.

We had people run it in very harsh weather, if you searched I'm sure you could've seen responses about such topic

15f is the operational limit for the sc oil to do its job

A few minutes of warm up does the truck, like anything, bring it up to operational temps before adding any load to motor or sc, common sense

Drove mine daily through Chicago winter, lowest I saw on a cold start was 2*F and the car had been sitting for 12+ hours

Went through several weeks of 5-10*F cold starts as well

I just let the car reach operating temperature before hammering it. The engine LOVES the cold air

Below 40 degrees supercharger at least on my car does not sound happy. Once it warms up all good.
Did not even try doing starts under 20F

You will be okay with colder temps so long as you don't overload the engine while it's cold, like stated. Your tune accounts for warmer (and this, thinner) ambient air. The cold (denser) air will actually help your AFR!

Dailied mine in New York the entire winter. I think the coldest I started at was 9 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course, I always warmed up the car properly before putting too much load on it, but I do that on all my cars regardless of FI or mods.
