Replaced my RCE yellows with 2017 86 springs (stock). Sucks to lose the drop but the ride is sooo good for my commute. No more getting catapulted out of my seat on big dips anymore. Little more roll (to be expected since the RCEs are basically double the stock spring rates) but on bumpy backroads, not necessarily a bad thing, rather roll a bit more than skip and jump around on potholes.

The air bags are real ugly...I'm not removing them but will have to cover them with something. I'm thinking Alcantara and velcro strips.

Suggestions?
Oh yes, just go with this:

All kinds of head space ….

Hmm. Unless your buddy up at the local auto shop does it for free you could have saved enough to buy one of those cars you cannot afford. Ditto if you gave up smoking and that is also bad for your health. It gets worse..... you are not getting the feeling of satisfaction you get by doing it yourself which is good for your mental health.
I will pray for your soul tonight.

p.s. I am 76 and still do my own oil changes but need to load my shoes with lead to assist sitting up from lying flat on my back under the car

Airbags? You don't need those, just take them out. Huge weight savings and it moves the car's center of gravity even lower for improved cornering.

For stuff I am not confident or capable to do myself I too have a long-term relationship with a mechanic. He too allows a chat in the bay and has taught me heaps. I take pleasure in boning up on the job with the manual beforehand then see how he does it.
Over the years I have scored a few of his tools that he left in the engine compartment due to my distracting instructions on how to do things correctly (only joking).

I love that George C. Scott statement he made in the film Patton. "There are two ways to do anything. There's my way and the RIGHT way ... and they are the SAME!"

Hey-hey-hey - another old timer on the forum -

That's good that you still do your own oil changes -

Yep, you're right about them cigarettes. When I started, they were a quarter a pack out of a machine and I smoked a pack a week. Now, I don't wanna think about how much they cost. ..

Oh, I do get some personal satisfaction out of maintaining my own car. Just today, I cleaned off the windshield (on the outside). Someday, I may wash the whole thing ..

Thanks, but I think I'll be leaving the safety in place. Besides, they're 4 lbs total. Not worth a head injury.

I smoked for 38 years and quit on my 52nd Birthday. I went cold turkey and it WAS brutal but the withdrawal only lasted a few days. I already have COPD so the incentive was there! TBH quitting drinking was easier...

There's always meds to help you through it. I DO feel much better

Swapped out what was left of the stock pads for Hawk DTC 30's

I sounded like a broken school bus while bedding them in lol They seem to be fine now. I will run them during the day tomorrow and at the track tomorrow night.
