Flip, wanted to also tell you, if your knee doesn't heal completely soon, get surgery.

Both my knees were f-ed up. One bad, one really bad. I had a great surgeon who fixed my left one perfect when I was in my 20s. He said I would be back to 100% in a few weeks, and I was. He offered to Do the right and I put it off.
Worst decision of my life (or one of them). Fast forward 30 years and I finally have the right done, by someone else, other guy retired. Surgery was 100 times more painful, and much less successful.

I guess my point is, doesn't heal right away, get surgery while you are still young, and you are still young.

Ya, unfortunately I've got Kaiser, so it comes with a lot of hoops.to jump thru. They pretty much would like me to have surgery as a last resort. First, I have to heal for the next 3 weeks with the usual rest, ice and ibuprofen, then I have a follow-up appointment with my regular Dr, then physical therapy, then if it doesn't get better after a few weeks, an MRI then a visit with a specialist then MAYBE they might consider surgery...or more physical therapy lol

We'll see I guess. On the plus side, my knee is feeling much better. Starting to be able to put weight on it, so I might be able to ditch the crutches by the weekend.

Yep, based on my current calculations, I can retire 5 years after I'm dead.

I've only worked for one company that had a pension, and I only worked there 3 years. While I was there they had to vest everyone in the pension plan because they made a change to it. So, I do know that I have a guaranteed retirement income of $145 + Social Security per month.

Fortunately, MomHawk has a pension through work and we can pretty well live off of it's projected benefit. I also have a substantial 401K (been saving 15% of my income since I was in my late 20s) but I'm no where near the amount of money that makes me feel comfortable that it won't "run out" at some point no matter what the charts say.

To complicate it, my family history says you either barely make it to 70 or you live well into your 90's so I can't even use that as a guide.

Yeah, that's a big bummer.

I remember I bought GTA5 on launch for PS3 and then the second it came out for PC I bought it again. Completely different experience.

I already talked myself out of it. Dropping $500 on a console and game would be a poor financial decision with Christmas coming up... and with all the other things I am trying to save for next year. My responsible brain is not letting my reckless brain have any fun.

Current rumor is it will be available in April, which means I'll probably buy it during the 2019 Holiday Steam Sale (I don't pay retail for games)
