Friend in highschool in 1999 had a sonic purple Integra Type R that had a JRSC. He also had a 94 RX7. We had a few GSRs at campus and SIs.

I like the theory the Civic is a sedan and the Integra is the coupe. True enthusiasts might want to pony up the cash, so doors and luxury will differentiate the two.

That honestly sounds amazing, but I am a Honda guy at heart. If I could throw a LSD in my Civic Coupe it would be a pretty awesome car.

This is probably going to keep me waiting around a little bit on making a move on an 86. I'm looking for a truly fun car though so Honda is really going to have to come through to make it compete with a purpose built sports car. But if it hits all the right nostalgia buttons, who knows.

* Renders... The grill in the teaser photo doesn't match, but the prototype vehicle seems to have a different front-end design as well. Not sure what is going on. 2 and 4 door variants, maybe?

Also, this is going to cost $50K.

the "spy shots" are fake and the renders are just fan art. none of it matches the teaser that was released by Honda.

That’s not a terribly high bar though. Both the original Integra and the RSX look way better than the current CTR. The seventh Gen Civic Si hatch does too.

The 10th gen‘s design is a bit of a mess all-around. The stick-on body work on the CTR is over the top, but it’s not the root of the problem IMO.

I’m guessing the same. Starting price of a base model in the 30’s with the SI’s 1.5T. Type-S model with the 2.0T in the 40’s. Maybe a Type R model that is a hybrid in the 50’s.

I can see the 3 spec thing happening, but we won't see Type R branding from Acura, and we won't see 3 completely different powertrains, that's wishful thinking. Also if we were going to see Type R under Acura, we would've seen it in the outgoing NSX for sure... But I've been wrong before, I never thought we'd see an Integra again.

Expect an A-spec. Base -> A-spec -> Type S. I feel most buyers will be either base or Type S.

Btw Si engine is 1.5T.. unless their changing it for 11th gen, which I doubt.

Yes, 1.5T. My slip up.

So maybe the Type-S gets the 2.0T, but maybe it gets the version in the Accord or maybe the Type R turbo for top end, but maybe it gets balancing shafts like in the Accord for smoothness. What else doesn’t it get from the CTR? It would have to get less performance to be priced about the same.

The cheaper sedan chassis, as well as the Accord 2.0T with Integra specific tune and maybe only the Accord AT. Suspension will need to be lush as it will be under the Acura brand, so perhaps even that will be held back, but have some minor similarities to the CTRs to make it somewhat capable.

Maybe what we'll see is a lighter, smaller, better handling Accord under the veil of an Integra.. and that's not a bad thing. Those expecting something raw I think will be disappointed.

But.... Things could also go in the complete opposite direction where we see SH-AWD, and something built to compete with Supra/M2 territory, but I'm just not seeing it.

What I am pretty sure on is they don't want it to compete with the 11th gen CTR. People are already screaming that their FK8s days are numbered because of this announcement, but I look at this as something of a good second car had I the cash money.

Thumbs up

^Business case for an NSX Type R version couldn't be justified given the sales failure the car ended up being (selling less than 10 cars a month ain't great). The production numbers for the 2nd gen NSX make the original's look like Camry numbers, lol.

I owned my DB2 GSR for over 20 years. To say this has my interest piqued is an understatement. But I have very little faith in Honda/Acura's execution these days. They could mess up a wet dream. For this to be seriously considered by me, over a 2nd gen BRZ, it will have to hit all the buttons and THEN some (to overcome it's lack of RWD).

FYI the first iteration of the GS-R cost $17,000 back in 1993, which is roughly $31,000 in 2021 money. Here's hoping for something great that's also affordable.
