Hmmm....I would like to try to see how this looks.

Except i have a Radeon RX6600....Ray tracing probably starts off as a slide show for me lol. (One article says a 6900XT was around 5fps @ 1080p and then gets slower from there....so maybe I start off more powerpoint presentation than slideshow.)

No biggy though...Just like Super Sampling AA back in the early days of GPU acceleration and tesselation after that, it'll take a few generations of GPU before the feature comes with an acceptable level of performance hit.

Lulz I looked it up and nah. I'll just enjoy the original game. Honestly, the whole RTX thing isn't that big of a selling point for me. Which is why I planned to pick up an RX7000 series when those drop.

It's $400 interesting to me and voila, a 3060 fits the bill. Now 350 on amazon just a couple weeks after I grabbed mine

Theres always something in the graphics world that is supposed to be "OMG MIND BLOWING" that to me isnt such a big deal.

I think the last thing that was kind of touted as the next big feature was Ambient Occlusion....which is more or less just proper lighting and rendering around an object in the foreground.

It was such a small visual improvement to me that it made no difference whether it was used or not. Cuz in the grand scheme of things how much are you focusing on a rock and the proper rendering of the objects all around it?

I think the most noticeable way to show is it to on/off the feature, focus/zoom directly on a rock next the main character's foot and see the shadowing/lighting promptly change from either a flat/shadow/black to visualy showing proper depth around it.....

I'm of the same thought. I think I'm more game plot/action centric than I am visual anyway. Even though I have a graphics card that can easily support 4K I haven't bothered to upgrade my 27" monitors to support it. I'd much rather have a smooth framerate and no lag experience than the latest graphic nuance.

I used to keep up with the graphics hardware some time ago but after awhile i stopped caring about it and with it the whole visual improvements that are achieved.

Could be cuz i got older (you seem to stop caring about a bunch of really minute details of stuff the older you get), or it could be that they were so gimmicky that they were utterly pointless to showcase at the time (due to either performance hits or nothing was actually utilizing it in a way that was actually beneficial), or the fact that i also own a Nintendo Switch (or even all the older nintendo hardware like Wii and WiiiU) so even if the graphical progress and smoothness upgraded over time to include 60fps+ and 4k resolutions, I still spent time and was comfortable in the lower res 720p/30fps environment. The PC gamer master race inside me can tell the smoothness difference and the visual differences, but it just doesnt bother me at all.

And only my TV is 4k capable, my 27" monitor which i JUST recently upgraded to (previous was an old 22" 1650X1080 22") is only 1080p but with 165hz capability.
