'13 FRS Differential

Rumors abound about component swap ability between 2015 WRX and the FRS'. In particular, I'm wondering about the differential. Anybody with any information on that?

I doubt it, the FR-S differential is a standard Toyota unit (same as IS250/300 I believe). The WRX rear diff is open anyways, that would be a bit of a downgrade?

Yes.

You will go from a Torsen diff in the FRS, to an open diff in the WRX.

Good luck with that.

Yeah, but it'll be different. Custom.

Why not swap in a 2.2L Indycar engine while you're at it. Neighborhood of 750 H.P. You can mount the boost knob in the console recess (unless you have heated seats). Custom.

Debating doing this. Have the front end of a wrecked 13 WRX sitting at my local dealer. Very tempting to Frankenstein my car and have one of three (that I know of) AWD GT86S.

Would no longer be a GT86. Just be GT86 like.

Anyone ever tried deleting one of the pistons in these engines? Could save weight and maybe it'd be cool to have a custom 3 cylinder boxer engine with 3/4 the horsepower. Also could make the dud piston work as an air pump to help keep the engine cool.

Too much work. Just do a swap from a Geo Metro!

Hey now! The 3AGE is a great motor! Just get a 4AGE and lop off part of it and weld it back shut and you're good to go!
