how in the world do you...
get through the rubber wire holes in the firewall. I have a wire for the fog lights and it seams damn near impossible to get through that hole under the drivers side dash.

If you're doing drivers side, there's a little capped tube on the grommet that's made for the purpose - just snip off the tip and you can run a wire through easy. Passenger side is closer to the battery though.

If you look at the rubber gasket, there is a little black rubber extrudes out. Just punch a hole on that with your screw driver, it will go straight into the inside and you can run the wire through there. This is how I run my fog lights wire through.

Snip off the end of the tube in the engine bay, wires will pass through no problem. Use some silicone adhesive to seal

Cut a slit with a razor blade. But, since you are only running one wire you can probably pierce it with a coat hanger.
Take a metal coat hanger, undo it, cut the ends (they will be nice and sharp), push it through the grommet (make sure you're NO WHERE NEAR the wires or that would be bad), then tape the wire to the end of the hanger (nice and tight - lube it up too with some spit), pull the other end from the hood and the wire will come with it.
