My girlfriend and I had a car related disagreement

No, she didn't take the hammer to the FR-S or anything, but it was a discussion about naming cars.

She argues that all cars are ladies (or at least female), and therefore should carry feminine names.

My point in case that my last car was named Mr. Tibbs, and it was a fitting name.

For instance I think should have some kind of man name. She thinks that it's just a butch female, and deserves a name like "Helga". I might go with "Bertha", but it looks more like a "Steve" to me.

Just wondering if anyone or their significant other has any input on this.

You ride the car and if you name your car steve than your riding steve and that sounds kinda weird. I just keep it simple. My black FR-S was called raven and now my silver is called argento. I don't really get the point of naming your car though.

Idk I always thought all cars should be girls. If you watch car videos and stuff, people are always saying "wow, she's beautiful"

cars are girls

they consume your resources and force you to do all the work if you want them to get any use out of them

they last aroudn 10 years, after which they generally fall apart unless you start dumping more money into them to upgrade, repair or replace various parts

Depends on where you are from--some places, cars are guys.

However, it tends to differ more based on gender. Girls tend to name their cars after guys, and guys name them after girls.

i believe that cars are girls (well for guys mostly). but for women, they prefer to call it by guy names. i think it just depends on who owns the car.

My mustang was named Damien, It tried to kill me the 3rd day I had it and was my fav until now. I also had a beemer named Jerry McGuire. My mom named her last m3 Elton. My tc was Lilu Dallas. I still haven't given gender to my brz. I call it her because it's sexy and curvy but it sounds so mean now I'm not real sure.

My hubs has the same thoughts as your lady.

Genderism has found a way of invading things even as unassuming as the naming of cars?

Not sure what your point is, but yes. Cars, boats, planes, ships, weapons, back as far as human history is recorded. Humans tend to apply anthropomorphic traits to those things around them, hence why children sometimes color inanimate objects with eyes or other human features.

Sure, there are gender-neutral names we can name things, but its far less dramatic.
