It's not for everyone, but if you're new to pushing your car it will get you a little more comfortable.

Autocross is awesome for car control limits even though speeds are usually lower than track. I really dislike it when track junkies look down on autocross.

Car control is car control whether its at 30mph or 80mph!

I did 1 autocross and hated the sea of cones. There was an organization that chalked out a road course complete with inside kerbs in the parking lot at Anaheim stadium and that was kind of a track\autocross deal. It was really fun. I was sorry when they stopped doing it.

There's also "trackcross" in our area, which is somewhere in between. Higher speed (but not that highspeed) autocross on a track.

Autocross is about adapting to a new track and getting quick at getting quick. No homecourt advantage. One of the biggest things I learnt from autoX was the ability to adapt and have an active head for vision.

Yeah the sea of cones is an issue depending on how the course is laid out. Could be an issue with whoever is building the course. If it has no flow or no really intuitive indicator as to where to go next, it can be a mess.

SCCA did that a couple times, wish they still did. It was in Nashville after Nats in 2011, then St Louis after nats in 2012. Fun way to do something different to wind down the season.

Excuse the terrible video and audio from an old gopro 3.

They still do, they mix it in during their TT events sometimes.

Try different orgs! Ask around your car friends who do autox which orgs they like most.
