Did you get a chance to dyno the new front pipe?

Ouch. Any signs of it going bad before the trouble shifting gears?

Not yet. But I had to pull the FP to remove the transmission and the cat is already loose.

When I got the new engine 3k miles ago, I asked the shop to install an aftermarket clutch and a new TOB. There was always a bit of a whine from the transmission on deceleration when engine braking, but I attributed it to the new clutch (dual friction compound). But who knows. Maybe the TOB was not installed properly or was a used one. Aside from that drivetrain whine, there were absolutely no signs, I ran four sessions that day, came to the paddock, and whoa, what's this? @Opie was there and was kind enough to look at my problem and thought it could be a bent shift fork, but the shift fork appears to be fine.

Does the BRZ transmission have an oversized bearing replacement kit? Something where a better overall mechanism is used? I think the snout it replaceable on the BRZ, but the quality of Subaru's throw-out bearings has always been in question for all the Subarus I have ever owned.

What a bummer, especially considering all the time, effort, and money you have put into the car. Hopefully it is as simple as a bad TOB and nothing else was damaged.

I hope it is just the TOB. One of the side clips is missing and I do not think there is anything else in that area that the bearings could come from.

Not really worried about the whole situation, that's the nature of the game I play.

So since those ball bearings were in the M/T fluid, they are from inside the transmission assembly. There are several ball bearings in the transmission that are used as detents to align different components. They should never be just floating around in the fluid. Problem seems to be more than just the TOB

Thanks, figured it may be the case! The TOB bearings are bigger too. The clutch looks ok I guess?

Took the clutch to Clutch Specialty and they told me it was ok to run it so it is back in the car.

Got the Verus clutch fork with a new TOB and a clutch fork pivot but then a brand new Money Shift Racing hydraulic TOB came up for sale and I could not pass the deal.

The transmission is back in the car, still need to reconnect all the wiring and finish up hooking up the hydraulic TOB.

I’m jealous of you getting that MSR, I wanted to see if it would have fit my project. I also ordered some stuff from neatgearboxes down in Australia.

About how think do you think that back plate is that gets put into the transmission?
